Doesn't matter at this point anyway. Was just at my dealer to sign the final bit of paperwork for drop off location and insurance and Belgium is no longer listed as having any drop off locations at all. According to them it's no longer an option. So it's a Saturday drop off at Munich, and unfortunately that takes Belgium out of the mix.

You need to book an appointment to drop the car off (some paperwork is required, takes ~15 minutes with the 1 person on staff). You can do the appointment at the Welt (how I did it), or while still in the US (don't know how). Appointments normally start at 8:30am, but the earliest I could get was 9:30am, and I was the first.

The drop off location is at the airport terminal building (sideways entrance, tricky to find), so you at most need 2 hour delta time from finishing the drop-off to get onto a plane. That was exactly my gap. I was hopping onto a connecting German flight, and had about 45 minutes left for shopping at the airport.

If you appointment is for any time before 9:30am, your 11:40am departure is easily doable.

I don't remember who provided the instructions to me (BMW email?), but washing the car is required. There is an automated car wash at the airport at one of the gas stations easily visible from the road. You can sit inside the car while it's been washed, and it was dirt cheap (Euro 6?).

Drop the car off with as little gas in the tank as practical. While no-one cares how much gas you have, your dealer will fuel up the car to full tank upon US delivery.

Have fun,
a

Thanks for all the information guys. I finally got my package in the mail the other day.

I also emailed the drop off location and they set me up for a 9:00am appointment so I can catch my 11:40am flight. It will just be me so not worried about someone slowing me down.

They also informed me that if I don't have time to wash the car that they provide a wash/wax service after I drop it off for 40 euros. May be worth it if I am pressed for time the day before.

Another question I had before I email BMW Welt directly. Are you only allowed to bring one person with you for the delivery day? I've read that you can bring your family which indicates more than 1 other person but there is no clear language that I can find. I'd like to bring 2 others (3 including myself) with me.

It was trucked from Antwerp, not driven.

But as blue mentioned, Belgium is no longer an option.

How long before your delivery date does the car usually enter production, as reflected on bmwusa.com?

Mine was completed 3 weeks before delivery, so started production roughly 4-5 weeks prior.

I pick mine up June 2nd so I guess I should expect it to enter production by next week at the latest.
