Getting my dream car 2017 M3 ZCP 6MT (Am I dreaming?)
tomorrow I sign papers to take delivery of a black on black 2017 m3 czp 6mt. It was a demo found by a broker for me. under 3k miles. seems to be fully specd with a sunroof. which so hard to find in 6MT.
it feels surreal. what do you guys recommend I do first. ? this is what I had in mind. 1. tint ( how dark? 3m crystalline vs ceramic) 2.PPF just front bumper hood and front of side mirrors 3. get coded for convenience options 4. steering wheel v2 5. m shift knob and boot 6. Dinan lowering springs or HAS and bump stops and spacers (I want to keep warranty so im going with Dinan. (do I need the side skirts now that its lowered)? 7. tires ( do I need cup sport 2)? how bad is traction on PSS? 8. caliper colour change (I desperately don't want blue calipers) 9. radar detector ( I want to hard wire it to my car) *this should be #1 10. change filters and charcoal filter 11. intake msr vs eventuri vs dinan (seems like eventuri is standard for s55)? please help me out. what else should be considering this summer that is worth it. Edit: sorry for the delayed pics. been crazy busy. only had 2 days off with her so far. |

The coding should be inexpensive relative to the other things you have listed. I don't think you need sport cup 2's right away. Burn through the PSS's and then decide for yourself if you need P4S or the Cup 2's. The radar detector is a good thing too. If you're going to drive over the speed limit, get that. I can't comment on the other stuff. I have no idea what some of it is, or why you'd change what a German engineer deemed appropriate.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Regarding the 11 items you listed, with two exceptions I would withhold comment and suggest that you take your time, get used to the car and read a lot before you invest. The two exceptions: first, as stated above use the PSS to get used to the car then switch to 4S. Second, definitely get a radar detector. I would strongly recommend valentine V1, nothing else comes close. Hardwired is the preferred method, but have this done only by an authorized BMW Dealer. I personally would never let anyone screw around with that dashboard other than the dealer. In my experience dealers will always say no the first time you ask to hardwire, but a small amount of persistence brings them around. I've done that on four different BMWs now and have never once been charged for the service. I would also recommend the Valentine remote display be added at the same time the car is hardwired. The remote display gets mounted in the lower right-hand corner of the cluster. The tech will use a very small rat tail file to notch the plastic lens (which pops out easily) directly behind the remote display in order to lead the wire back into the dashboard. This does two important things: first, it puts the display pretty close to your line of sight not somewhere up near the roof and, second, it makes the rather bright lights of the Valentine invisible from outside the car. Good luck & ENJOY!

1. Track it!
2. Learn what you need to change. 3. Go back and track again! |

Personally, after getting PPF on a few cars. Wouldn't recommend it unless you are OCD. Trade in is pretty much the same if you had PPF or not. Definitely tint. You can easily code yourself, code for the adaptive auto high beams. Steering wheel does not justify the cost. Lowering springs is the single mod that makes your car looks amazing for a relatively low cost. Don't need side skirts. Don't need intake if you don't have other mods - unless you like the noise. Sport cup 2's will wear out a lot faster and also suck in the rain. Super sports are a good option for current power.
My fav: Suspension (but Dinan is too expensive even with warranty) Tint Auto Highbeam coding You could look into used wheels for a better look |

B. Tint always looks good on black cars. If you don't want too dark do a 35-50 on doors and a 15-20 on rear window. Car will feel much darker than you think while still allowing good side to side outward night visibility. C. Radar detector is a must. D. Ppf. If the rear arches are not pock marked, I highly highly recommend getting your installer to bring the PPF on the leading rear arch up at least another 4-6". Other than that, drive it cautiously until you're used to the balance and power. Then have fun and drive the crap out of her (only after fully warmed up and tire pressures confirmed to not be off by 0.5psi) A 6MT shouldn't have been a perf center car, I don't think; but I could be wrong.

I may be wrong but I thought after market intake would void factory powertrain warranty?

First of all, congrats! 6MT FTW
First mod; ditch active sound. You can code it or do what I did and unplug that s$&t. Videos on how to do it can be found. I wanted to throw it away but just unplug it. Second, lower it. I did Dinan but there are options. Not extreme just a bit. Third; fatten that rear rubber. I have 305s on the back now (275s on the front). No issues with power down whatsoever.
