1st & 2nd Service Prices
Hi,
I've just taken delivery of my M4, I'm contemplating the Service pack. I understand the running in service is around £300. I do around 8,000 miles a year and intend to keep the car for 3 years. I wonder if any one knows how much the 1st and 2nd services are?

You'll be about break even cost wise after 3 years, but the service pack is good for 5 years so will benefit you if you keep it longer, or will help with PX/sale price depending on what you do with it.
I would do it. Always put it on my cars.

Call your local BMW dealer for prices.
I'm sure I was told about £600 for first oil service (minor) and then about £1200 for 2nd oil service (major). Service interval is about 15,000 miles or 2 years. So you are unlikely to get up to 2nd oil service (major). I'm sure the Service Pack is £1000 and it covers all servicing. (1200 mile run-in, 1st/2nd maybe 3rd oil service, coolant, spark plugs etc) I think your best going with the Service pack, I don't know anyone who has not gone with it.

A dealership informed me that the services, including the first oil change, are circa £500 each therefore the service pack, at £1,050, saves you about £500 as it covers the initial oil change and then the following two services. I'm led to believe the above oil change and 2 services should see the car through it's first 5 years.

Thanks for the replies
I've have it booked in for the running in service £308.00. The dealer says the 1 st service is around £400.00 and I'll probably won't reach the 2nd service. The 2nd service is a big one at around £900, it involves changing the spark plugs which are deep in the engine. I've decided not to go with the service pack, I don't think I'll get the benefit from it. I've still got until the 21st to change my mind lol. Loving the car, it's simply stunning. HK and adaptive lights a must. It's not as good on fuel as I was hoping, although it will probably improve after the running in service and a few more miles. It achieved 19 mpg out of the last tank, I get about 21 mpg from my 911 and about 17mpg from my now sold C63.

MPG is unlikely to change.
People where quoting 30-34mpg but I can tell you here in UK you will see 20-22mpg real world. Those prices are a lot cheaper than what I was quoted. Who was the dealer?

Hi Mate, I didnt go with the service pack, as my M4 sees little mileage throught out the year, last year i did less than 5k. And i probably wont reach the second service either. My first service cost me around £260 if i remember correctly. It sounds like you are of similar mind set ?. I would risk not bothering with the service pack, unless of course, you can get it thrown in with the deal. |
