Crazy thing is, according to the article I saw, this guy got the same penalty as someone driving 20 mph over the limit in VA….

That’s the issue I have with the judgement at times where I don’t always agree with the decision being based upon the results at the given time.

Replicating the same issue though within the speed limit, and driver loses control and causes a fatality, that would weigh quite differently.

The current charge should be supplemented with an additional one as with that speed and trajectory it almost feels intentional from the driver that my life would be taken away if I were on the receiving end.

I say this because I feel that misdeamnor wouldn’t be an actual learning lesson as opposed to having your license suspended for a period of time after such an event.

Agree. That crash should result in mandatory jailtime and suspension of license. Crashing in a bend like that while doubling the speed limit is criminal. Roll racing up to 160mph in a straight line is innocence compared to approaching a corner like this at 120mph. If 120mph was his speed, he needed to only shed 20mph to take that turn and that's not hard at all unless you are completely oblivious to speed and surrounding; which is why the book needs to be thrown at him.

He nailed the brakes when he saw that cop. That wasn't a lift, that was a hard break jab, because you can see the car starts to rotate before the turn. He did nothing to correct and steered in the wrong direction.

If that were a G80 xdrive nothing would have happened lol.

There was another idiot in here last week with a G80 he hydroplaned and crashed. I Wrote he was lucky he didn’t cross the median. Got $hit from a few. Eat $hit.

Hope that driver goes away for a L.O.N.G. time.

I’d blame whoever gave a 17-year-old a > 180 HP car.

It should have been possible to navigate that corner at 120 if the driver had a steady hand, steady foot, the tires were good and the road conditions were otherwise okay.
This happened because the driver is a moron. But for the the way he was driving, this would not have, or would be far less likely to happen. Stupidity is the root cause of this, not physics.

Cars today are fast. Even if this kid has a Honda or a Tesla. He’s an idiot. Having a 2018 M3 or a 2006 3 series makes it no different.

My dad let me drive his 2006 M5 to prom and to school a few times when I was 16. I never drove reckless.

Spoiled rich kid turning traction control off on a RWD high HP car = THIS.

kids shouldn’t be driving cars like this…they need experience and judgement.

Agreed

Thank god no one was seriously hurt.

The fish rots from the head. The driver has parents and one can question the depth and breadth of their guidance as parents.
