Seems legit. I have USAA as well and my policy increased $456 with the addition of the M4.

I agree that a $2,400 increase is utterly insane. I have 2 motorcycles (both at or over 1,000 c.c.) and 3-over $60k vehicles on my policy with $1m coverage across the board, $500 ded., medical, and the highest limits avail. from USAA. My total yearly premium is about $2,400.00 for all 5 vehicles with 2 drivers in the household.

Driving record: No tickets for over 20-yrs. / Under 40, but over 35. Shop around? Was with progressive in AZ, moved to CA and my rates went up 100%. Called USAA and ended up with rates lower than what I was getting in AZ.

If you go with Progressive, do NOT volunteer for their "black box" program in your car. Many people have had their rates go up, rather than down, after agreeing to use the device for a few weeks.

Think I'm going to shop around a bit, though. In my case, for whatever reason, my rates are not decreasing with age/marriage/additional policies, etc. (Have 7 policies with USAA, in total) and I still think I'm paying too much.
39. It's the 3rd car on our policy.

I contacted Liberty Mutual earlier this year seeking an auto insurance quote. They claim to offer huge discounts to BMW CCA members. I spoke to an agent. We discussed my vehicles and current coverage and deductibles. I explained I wanted a quote on the exact limits and deductibles so I could compare apples to apples. The agent asked me if I would be willing to install an electronic driving nanny in my vehicle. I said "you want me to install a driving nanny on a M car? No thanks." He genuinely seemed puzzled why I was unwilling to install such a device on my car. I politely suggested that if he would check my driving history, he would discover I have had no accidents or tickets in many many years and only a single claim a few years ago when a rock chipped the windshield on a car I no longer owned. Turns out the quote he gave me was much more expensive than my existing policy.

My insurance went up an additional $30 every 6 months. I'm sure it all depends on your driving record, age, home ownership, location. A lot comes into play

My quotes from the following coverage is 100/300, I have personal injury protection $10,000, uninsured motorist protection, rental car $35/day, towing, and a $500 deductible:

1. State Farm (current agent): Approximately $950 every 6 months

2. State Farm (new agent): Approximately $780 every 6 months

3. Allstate: Approximately $1,164 every 6 months

4. GEICO: Approximately $497 every 6 months!

Needless to say, Geico is about to earn my business.

29-year-old male, no criminal or driving record, clean as a whistle.. only car on the policy but I'm going to now move my entire family's cars over and see what kind of deal I can get. It also seemed too good to be true but I have the quote in writing!!

i currently have geico and i am switching to state farm. Geico will not pay the higher labor rates that a good shop charges per hour to fix your car. They have pre arranged places where they have negotiated the rate for.

I have a good friend that is an insurance agent and he always directs me to the best place for my situation regardless if its with him or not. Originally he switched me to geico for a better rate for my 07 is350, but he said definitely don't do it for the M4.

hope this helps

You guys posting your rates for the most part are leaving off important factors, prices can vary depending on liability limits, deductibles, how many miles you tell the carrier your driving, uninsured motorist, medical coverages, towing, rental car coverage, etc,,,,,I'll post my rates later today and coverages I use GMAC insurance who changed their name to national general, have not seen better coverage anywhere, in fact my rates went down from a 6 series to an M4. So rates don't mean shit unless you include specifics of the policy.

My understanding is that if you get hit, basically if you get hit and are NOT at fault, then you are legally entitled to take your car for repairs at any shop of your choosing.

Are you referring to if you hit someone and are the one at fault or a freak-accident occurs and you want to get your car fixed through them? If so, that's definitely a pause for concern for me and something I will have to speak to the agent about.

EDIT: You're right. I am no longer switching to Geico - I'll stick with the cheaper State Farm agency and move my policy with that agent. A short internet search turned up this:

http://www.teslamotors.com/forum/for...-careful-geico

http://geico-reviews.measuredup.com/...ailed-Me-17003

Thank you for saving me a headache in the future. It's worth paying a little more for a quality policy.

what i did is i added my mom to my policy because my record is not very good lol. My insurance with state farm ended up lower than with geico. So if you have a family member that you can add as a driver, but not really a driver, might help. In your case it might help because of their age.

I would look for a new agent on principle alone. That kind of carelessness is not assuring when it comes to something important like insurance.

Amica; 300/200, full glass, OEM parts replacement with $1000 deductible. I'd have to dig out my insurance policy, but I'm pretty sure I have higher medical payments and rental car insurance coverage. 40 years old no accidents/clean driving record at about $900 a year. My M3 went up $53 a year over my 14 335.

I too got the BMW insurance quote from Liberty Mutual and it was $70 cheaper a year over my Amica policy for similar coverage. I decided to stay with Amica since we've been with them for almost 15 years and didn't think it was worth to switch. We also have life insurance and home owners with them.

Haha... You guys have it LUCKY...

M3 (76k Value) 28yrs old ( 12k a yr, Commute 25miles or more a day to work, AKA: I live out of the state 90% of the time), No Tickets/Accidents and been with the same insurance company since I was 15, single car/driver. Car is registered in Michigan, Metro Detroit. Michigan has the some of the highest insurance rates in the US. However, the benefits are the hard to beat. The pro is if your in an auto accident, you have unlimited medical coverage via Michigan Catastrophic Claim which all Michigan drivers pay into. Note if you need to hit someone do it in Michigan.

An yes I did shop around,My '11 F10 550i was $160 less per 6 months. I did look at GIECO and other company's, however the issues is in the fine print, OEM parts, Labor, Liability Limits in other states. Also options for repair, adjustors. I have had 3 hail claims, 1 window( These are free) over the last 5yrs. Each time it has been out of state, I just go get a quote or have had the work done and just fax a copy of the bill. Reimbursement check mailed within 24hrs, no adjustors, questions asked.

Residual Bodily Injury 500,000 person/$1 Million occurrence $125.94

Deductible as stated under collision is $500
$500,000/ $500,000 is how all my cars are written (5 autos) and my umbrella policy picks up from there (requirement for my umbrella policy).
Daily driver...yes
Did not ask how many miles or limit on such yearly.
I was surprised at the $$ also, my Tundra costs me more than that.

I understand what your leading to on "collector or stated value policy's" it is all about are you driving it to work ect.....or how many miles a year....I do have one of those policy's on a MK4 Cobra I put together 2 years ago.
This is a straight policy on a no ticket, no accident good customer rate
