Happened to me yesterday on the M4. I had AC set to 60 for like an hour and then air flow decreased even though fan was on full. Turning off AC for 30 min or so only helped in the sense I could use it again for 10-15 min before it would stop again. Taking to dealer next monday to get this addressed. What a PITA

I was driving on the freeway earlier. Heater/ac off. I felt my feet getting hot and thought the car was on fire. I took the next freeway exit amd parked the car. Inspected the car for any visible fire. All clear. Restarted the car and turned on the ac. Lcd display is ok, but no air coming out from the vent. Turned on the heater. Same result. I do not believe the issue is the fuse as the lcd is working properly. There is just no air coming out of the vent. I will be making an appointment, but I thought I'd check here for any easy solution. Thanks.

THere is Service bulletin for this. Happened to me in M4 about 3 weeks ago. They move the sensor. Make them reference SIB640613 dated May 2015.
It specifically says in SB that they wont be able to reproduce it in most cases. Just to do the fix |

Looks like the car is going to stay overnight at the dealership. They will try to update the software tomorrow and hopefully it works. Meanwhile I am getting a loaner tonight.

I had this happen on my old F30 once only a month ago for the first time on a 4 hour ride with high humidity. I have had the car since 2012 and drivevut in all kinds of weather without any issues. I turned everything off for 1/2 hour and kept driving and it solved itself. Very strange and I did not think much of it as I was selling the car to the dealer for my F80. I am interested in the revised service bulletin if this is stilll a potential problem in newer models.

Its not going to happen to everyone depending where you live and drive. The main contributing factor is length of time operating the AC in combination with High Humidity. That's why it is so hard to reproduce. So if you live in a place with constant high humidity, you have a better chance of experiencing it than someone living in a dry climate. Easy fix from BMW. If you live in those areas and car is going out of warranty soon, just take it in and have it done.

I've had it happen this summer a bunch
I picked up a 2015 F80 M3 (Yas Marina Blue) this summer and on several hot days with high humidity (i.e. 90+ degrees where the humidity is over 65%) I've experienced this issue. Nothing like driving from Indy to Nashville and effectively losing AC. You can sit the car for 30 min, or turn off AC and the blower returns almost immediately. Called the local dealer to see how much warranty I had left yesterday... 4 days. Dropped the car off last night.

Had the same problem twice now, both times going from San Diego to Vegas on a rally first time (last year) I took it back to the dealer they did their thing I pick the car back up and they replaced a sensor that essentially shuts the pump down when its to hot, and explained it was a known issue.
Couple months ago right before the same rally, took my car in for scheduled maintenance I explained to my SA (one that I hadn't worked with before) that I'm heading to Vegas again and would like the AC checked so the same thing doesn't happen and myself & copilot aren't sweating like pigs when its 114 outside, his response "Don't drive the car like that and you won't have any issues." I literally had a WTF are you talking about moment, disregarded his ridiculous comment and sure enough about a two hours out from Vegas AC pump shuts off and it starts blowing hot air, luckily there was a huge pullover we got radioed about in front of us so we had stopped for a bit 30 minutes or so, get back in the car AC is working again, thank god. One more thing I've never had happen just pulling into Vegas off the freeway, radio shuts off and a "Radio/Infotainment is overheated…" something to that effect pops up, needless to say our cars suck in the heat and BMW doesn't care to do anything about it.

Glad to find this thread. Happened to me the other day. Drove with AC off for 5 min and window down, turned AC back on and it came back to life!
