Just today I have two larger folded lawn-chairs in the trunk and kids in the backseat. When people minimize this car, I think they are missing the point, it is a "do it all" sports car, not a Cayman or 911, it is not that level of sports car, it is build on the on the 3 series platform, but that is what allows it to be very, very good, for the things listed above. To me this is a modern E39 M5, a car that people applaud as an amazing daily, The F80 is more nimble. The E39 is more mechanical and visceral. Both have huge amounts of practicality. |

12,000kms on the clock... about two years left on the lease. Purely a weekend car and likely the last toy (manual) car wife would approve so I'll hang onto this for a bit. Wonder how my 5 year old feels about hand me downs lol.
I think I would only move up to a Porsche from here and that doesn't seem to be in the horizon anytime soon lol. |

Bought a used 2015 F80 back in June with 32k miles. This is my 3rd M3 since 2010 and I keep saying I am going to keep THIS ONE forever...but maybe I just might this time.

original plan was a new macan turbo + an s54 m roadster a bit later.. and then this f80 happened, and now i'm lost. maybe forever? but likely until the lease runs out in 3 years.

actually.. for some reason i find the idea of keeping more recent cars (i.e. cars with more electronics than mechanical parts) somehow uninteresting. the e46 line is probably as late as i'd go (give or take) for a "forever car." something about not really being able to wrench on it myself without buying a stupid amount of bespoke computer gear.

As long as it stays in good shape? Mine only has around 30k miles on it, love driving it dearly, and still looks as good/better than anything on the road (realistically of course hah). 6MT and if the next M4 in a few years only comes in auto then I'll likely have this car for a loooooong time.
