Rev-match enabled in Sport+ beginning July 2018 production? UPDATE: Confirmed

Not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but as per this thread it appears that post-July 2018 production have rev-matching enabled in Sport+.

Just got my 2018 F80 ZCP 6MT back from break-in service and the behavior still exists. Efficient, Sport, and Sport+ in normal or MDM traction have rev-match enabled. Rev-match is only disabled when traction control is fully off.

Anybody else?

So if I recall, Rev match at times is controversial and could only be disabled in S+.

Now for this final final production it cannot? How bizarre. I bet it helps towards another incremental gain for WLTP figures.

Expect therefore future cars to be like this... ducks for cover

Does anyone know if a software update would cause cars that don’t have rev match in sports plus to now have rev match in all modes?

That would suck and piss me off. If so, I want to make sure my dealer doesn’t update the software.

As I understand, dealers don't re-flash your ECU during normal service unless something is wrong. It's not like an iPhone OS update.

That said, I'm going to call my dealer right away and see if they can re-flash my ECU so I have auto rev match in Sport + lol.

I had auto rev match on my 2016 340i so I got used to it (so I don’t mind myself either since I’ve never not had it recently) but I know this is a huge deal to most others.

I spoke to BMWNA reps about it and they routed me to genius who also confirmed that auto rev match should be disabled in sports plus. They have logged my request for resolution and requested that the first step as we continue to find a resolution is to have the service technicians run diagnostic and contact bmw. I need to take my car in for that.

I got the car with all the intentions of being able drive with auto rev match disabled and i plan to continue down this journey of working with bmw to find a resolution. If you share a similar perspective, call it in and let bmw know.

I have a June 18 build, no rev-match in S+, so I can confirm that was the case up to mid June.

This is (to my knowledge) at least the fourth post about mid-late June M3s (no M4s yet that i have seen) have rev-match enabled in Sport +. My question is, does it go off if you disable DSC (as with the M2)? Clearly a batch of cars have this feature/curse/anomaly. Hopefully it can be coded back to stock for those who want to do this. I know some members actually want rev-match in Sport+ for track use.

We're too busy out enjoying our incredibly fun 6MT M4s. ;P

If they enabled rev matching in Sport +, that would just about kill it for me just like a DCT car would. I refuse to drive in anything but Sport + because I absolutely hate hate hate the auto rev matching. I wouldn't have purchased the car if it were unable to be deactivated with the push of a button. I also have no proof of this, but I bet disabling it also helps with the spunk crank hub issue. I wouldn't be surprised at all if rev matching is the major cause of SCH problems.

Who knows!?

Yes - with TC off, auto-rev match is disabled regardless of engine/throttle mode.

I have a May, 2016 build with 40k miles. My car, before iStep updates, before tuning, after iStep updates, after tuning, periodically rev matches in Sport+.

Sometimes it lasts 2 hours, sometimes 2 minutes. One time it lasted almost a week. I drive almost exclusively in Sport + mode because I enjoy the power (even in NYC traffic, i enjoy trying to control the power) AND because I love matching my own revs.

I'd say it is probably the other way around, where auto rev match is a good precaution against spun crank hubs.

Disclaimer: I am not implying it was done for this reason though...

Thats the most bizarre thing. Why would a throttle mechanism be linked to DSC?

Yep; i updated my original post/thread on 8/27. Regardless of what engine mode i was in with TC off the car would not auto rev match.
