You will be fine removing the secondary cats with t he dinan midpipe, but if you go catless dp you will not.

Depends what sound level you like. I have a turner mid pipe and I imagine the results would be similar to a Dinan. It basically makes the burbles and pops about 25% louder, when letting off the gas at low RPM's, but with general driving its about 10% louder, until you mash it in sports plus then its about 20% louder. In my opinion. I didn't feel like it was enough so put a Milltek rear attached the the mid pipe, I prefer this set up. I posted video's over the weekend on the forum..

So u think it definitely added to your comp pack exhaust as far as good sound?

Are you subject to a visual inspection in CT?

On my E90 M3 I had a full Akra EVO (small secondary cats only). Surprisingly I actually passed the sniffer test (just barely) but failed the visual inspection since the emissions sticker stated the car was supposed to have 4 cats.

I don't know if CT will do a visual inspection or not that would be the plus side of going with the Dinan mid pipe the cats would be left on and in place.

The Dinan midpipe actually retains the secondary cats, and removes only the resonator!

Yes it added to the comp pack, but the Dinan removes a different component, mine removed secondary cats, not the resonator so its not apples to apples..

What are you trying to do? Add more sound? How much sound are you trying to add? Are you willing to compromise warranty?

All midpipes will need to cut exhaust unless you do a full catback ... AA midpipe will pass OBD emission test, but might fail visual(if your state does visual) because it removes the secondary cats

In Vegas they only do OBD test, no visual
