Does having the exhaust flaps always open reduce MPG?

So I love driving in sport+ in downtown Philly for the sound. The downside is my mileage goes to 12 mpg (yikes). Not even aggressive driving, just traffic. In comfort I get about 19 mpg, but obviously no burble.

So I'm not sure if sport and sport plus allow for the revs to go higher before shifting or if that's only correlated to the shifting position??? Or if sport and sport plus is just throttle response only? But what are your shifting position settings? The first position vs the third position will allow for a drastic difference in shifting within the rev range, which will in turn yield better or worse mpg. But if all you want is the sound of the flaps open, just get a can flap module. Then you can drive in efficient and have the sound you want. But simply driving with the flaps open has nothing to do with mpg. I mainly drive in sport in the second shifting position and manually shift. I average 19mpg and get great sound. Even better now with the vf hex tune =)

It's gonna have a slight affect, more sound just begs you to be on the throttle more

But in all reality no it shouldn't

It slows down the warmup (so you'd burn a bit more fuel until the engine is hot), but it sounds like you're just playing with the throttle more to hear her bark.

Sports-Plus will use more fuel. Not sure about valves.

I have wondered if the valve-mod (always open) would reduce any power to the turbos?
