Staggered 19" front + 20" rear THREAD
I've been thinking about going this route. Has anyone else been thinking about it or have already done it?
---- UPDATE ---- So since I started this thread I should probably update with my 19/20 set up. SPECS F: 19x10 ET23 - 265/35/19 RE-11 R: 20x11 ET36 - 295/30/20 RE-71R JRZ RS2 Sport with -2.2 degrees of camber all around. No rubbing! ---- END UPDATE ---- Some pics of staggered diameters (the GT3 RS is 20"front and 21"rear). Last edited by x.shell; 01-09-2017 at 02:31 PM.. |

I think it'd look great, and function even better than it looks, although I'm personally not a fan of the front tire being thicker than the rear. If I ran the 19/20 setup I'd probably go for one of the 4 combos only, depending on offsets of course
1) 265/35/19 front 305/30/20 rear 2) 255/35/19 front 295/30/20 rear 3) 275/30/19 front 295/30/20 rear 4) 255/35/19 front 305/25/20 rear |

For the F80, I plan on having the rear wheel/tire diameter 1" larger. That being said, I will most likely be using option (2) since those are the sizes available for the RE71R. I'm hoping that the R888R will come out with more sizes soon; although I'm not counting on them to come in these specific sizes. OR I might just ditch this whole crazy idea and stick with 19" all around. |

Welp, today is the day I have to decide on these wheel sizes. Here are the options I've come down to.
OPTION 1 19/20 F: 19x10 ET22 - 255/35/19 R: 20x11 ET35 - 295/30/20 OPTION 2 19/19 F: 19x9.5 ET17 - 255/35/19 R: 19x10.5 ET29 - 305/30/19 |

For the 19 all around setup with 305/30 and a ET 29 might rub unless you can dial in more camber, then I'd probably run 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 in that setup if possible or 255/35/19 and 295/35/19. Keep in mind the 305 tire will be bulgy on a 10.5 inch rim, and with that offset I'm actually certain it'll rub on normal camber specs. |

I definitely don't want to go the 275/30/19 route as I don't want to fall below the 26" total diameter mark. As far as the 305/30/19 fitting on a 10.5 ET29, it shouldn't be a problem. The F80 as a few more MM in width compared to the F82 (which is probably what you're measuring by). I'm also at -2.2 degrees of camber. If you check out dubsesd 's F80, he's running a 20x11.5 ET37 rear with 305/25/20 with -0.6 degrees of camber. His set up pokes 5mm more than the 10.5 ET29. I also roughly measured my current 19x11 ET40 + 305/30/19 wheel/tire combo, and I definitely have room for 5 more mm of poke. |

Three online offset calculators confirm this and I also confirmed it by converting the inches to metric and doing the math myself on a paper. |

That I understand. I was going off your scientific measurement of 5mm left before rubbing fender on your current setup with 305s and 11s... while the wheel sticks out only 5mm more, the tire will bulge more. But looks like it should fit.. tight but wheres the fun in being conservative..

I'm thinking about going with 19x9 front and 20x10.5 rear wheels. What tire sizes would you guys recommend? I was thinking something like 265/35/19 front, and 295/30/20 rear or maybe 305/30/20 rear. Thoughts?

With 265/35/19 and 305/30/20 tires, the balance would look lovely. The only reason why I didn't go 305/30/20 is due to limited choices; I wanted either the RE11, RE71R, R888, or R888R. |

What tires are you considering (brand/model)?

In case any one is curious how this set up looks on an F80, these are the same 19/20 brushed clear FI-Rs from the black car in the OP.
Tires are Michelin PSS 265/35/19F 295/30/20R

The PSS mentioned are specifically designed for a front fitmemt on a 9.5" wide wheel and rear fitment on a 10.5" wide wheel. The M6 rear has a meaty 11.6" wide tread.

So if I wanted to go 19/20 I could do a full RE71 tire setup. My question is why not go the more standard offset like 9.5 et 20 and 11 et40? Just trying for a super aggressive look? Why 10.5s?
I have to say I think the 19/20 setup looks much better on an M4 vs an M3. It gives the M3 some serious rake. |
