I sat in traffic for an hour next to a C63 owner today, We had a nice shouted conversation through the lanes, and he had a good argument that I will share.
Mercs are more hated than Bimmers. I might actually buy one someday just for that.

Will be interesting to see how this car handles and goes for sure. The difference for BMW in this gen though is that a bump in power is easy to achieve if required to compete with the C63.
If the C63 matches or betters the M3 on track then BMW will have to respond decisively as it will surely out perform it in a straight line. Mercedes also have the advantage of knowing the M3/4 s performance data- I will be surprised if they don't capitalise by ensuring their car is faster. If it sounds better, handles as well and is faster in a straight line and the gearbox is good the M3/4 will have very little to fight back with. This could be the gen where MB ends the M3s reputation as the benchmark in this class. They came close with the last gen and BMW must surely be concerned awaiting this cars launch. Let's wait and see- if it's that good would I sell my M3 and get one? ........yes.

If MB ever went this route, it would hard for BMW. I think some ///M customers default to BMW because of the MT and if MB offered this, some might choose the AMG. However, I suppose MB knows its target market and it doesn't include MT buyers for some reason.

I predict that the all around performance numbers for the W205 will be better than the current M3/4, due to AMG being able to see what the competition has. I also suspect that pricing is going to be significantly more than the M cars.
I'm not a fan of the current design direction of MB. Even the renders make the C63 look large and soft. I still prefer the previous W204 design. If only they can merge the new interior with the old exterior, then we'll have a winner. |

This sadly is my biggest issue too. I went to see the S3 today, but I could not pull the trigger. God I hated that car, and no manual made it worse. Why on earth did I end up marrying a guy who sends me to handle this shit is beyond me.
