The F10 LCI came a year before the E60 LCI (4 model years vs 5 model years). The E90 LCI was done after 4 model years. The E90 LCI came 1 model year after the E60 LCI. The F30 is in its 3rd model year, and this year the F10 got its LCI.

What I am saying is that what used to be not necessarily will be.

It depends on what you use to measure - US on sale dates do not register in the length of time. The F10 was introduced in November 2009 and went on sale early in 2010 ( for Europe) If we amount the time we get the adequate window for the mid-life refresh.

The 3er is selling too great to change anything now so a refresh will occur in mid-late 2015 with a possible introduction in the 3ers largest market Germany and the 2015 IAA. There won't be excessive or drastic changes , just a subtle re freshening. This will give the M3 its two years on the market.

I use model years, as traditionally you guys introduce the LCI in about 4 model years. But I do understand that you also have changed what duration in calendar months a model year last. And thus changing when the LCI will show up.

Is the F80 M3 a MY2015 or will it have a very short 3-months as a MY2014 and a long MY2015 before the MY2016 LCI?

F80 M3 will be introduced as a MY15. If the F30 LCI will be unveiled at the IAA in Frankfurt in October 2015, that means it will roll out to production around March/April of 2016. That would mean the F80 will have been on sale in the US for just under two years before its LCI is introduced. And if history of the E92M and F10M is any indication, the ZCP will be tied to that LCI as well.

tl;dr: It's a safe bet to count on the LCI and ZCP about 20-22 months after the F80 is available for sale in the US.

I've never been one for front spoiler lips on cars, but I was pleasantly surprised by how badass it looked on the M4 concept. I agree that it will be a must. hopefully, they make it out of plastic instead of CF since I have a feeling I'll be going through them about as routinely as the GT3 guys do their lips (which Porsche wisely made in plastic).

not sure they'll fit. aren't the F80 kidneys taken from the 435, which is slightly different?

You know.....I didn't pay attention to that detail. You may be right. Time to check the photos.

Edit:

Good catch. They did use the 4-Series grills for both ///M cars.

Thanks, Scott. M Performance Exhaust will be a must for both visuals and the sound.

The exhaust and diffuser on the M4 Concept looked good...

Hoping for the CFRP lip and diffuser plus what seemed to be an M performance exhaust on the M4 concept.

Can you give us clues on what goodies will be offered?

Interesting news in the top slot of bimmerpost homepage today:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901686

F30 LCI is already in the production pipeline. Looks like the 20-22 delay between the launch of the F80 M3 and the introduction of the LCI and ZCP is fairly accurate.

Edit: It might be an even shorter delay than that. F30 LCI might be out very close to its reveal at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt.

Which is why I'm completely OK waiting for LCI and ZCP
This was a response to the negative press about the M5/6 being too soft and bloated...I don't think the M3/4's competition package will include as many significant changes.

M3/M4 Competition Package speculation?

Really getting ahead of myself here (and a little greedy, admittedly), but any wild guesses on what MY it will come out, and what it will include? HP bump, just susp/software tweaks, cosmetic, etc. Based on E9X M3's or M5's... Who knows... Just posting a random thought...

My guess is some of the to-be-announced M performance parts will be included, possibly a performance exhaust, very slight power increase (+5 to +10 HP), 5 to 10mm suspension drop, LCD tail lights, alcantara steering wheel.

Things like LED tail lights are $$$$ in regards to development costs, so they need to amortized by BMW over tens of thousands of units, not just a few thousands Competition Package models.

I would not be surprised if all cars get LED tails during an LCI.

I would expect slight hp bump, lower and improved suspension and steering and a few cosmetic items. Might make CCBs mandatory plus special wheels. Exhaust would be nice and an additional ECU/TC setting.

Take a look at the M5, it should be similar to that.
