Driver front wheel up to 10F hotter than others?

noticed this on warm days when pushing it a bit.. is there an intercooler there or something that heats that wheel more?

I noticed this also, the front driver side wheel is warmer than the rest.

I don't wanna bring up old shit, and I'm familiar with the drivers side wheel being warmer, but I was making a few runs at the strip today and my front tire was 20° hotter. Obviously I was accelerating hard, and driving fast, but 20°??

Is that right?

Yup. The front auxiliary radiator vents right in front of the wheel causing it to warm up more relative to the others.

The passenger side also has a similar radiator but that's for the charge air cooler which runs significantly cooler compared to the driver side radiator.

Thanks hellokitty. 20° seems like so much, but it is also the first time I have run consecutive 1/4 mile drags. It did stabilize slowly to the normal 10° (ish) on my way home from the track, but it also worried me. I wouldn't lie lol.

Aside from radiators/etc...

Did you guys forget what side of the car you sit in? The driver front brake works harder than all the other brakes.

Nah that isn't it because my f30 and my f32 did NOT do that. Not at all.

Your F30/F32 came with shittier calipers and pads that don't generate as much heat. (To be fair the F82 comes with shitty calipers and pads too but still sportier than F30/F32)

Every single car from my F82 to my Z06 to my R8 does this and it's completely normal. Weight transfer during braking will always bias front left. 10F is nothing.

I'm not worried about it! I went to the drag strip and hit 20° difference! That was the 1st time that happened so I came through to ask about it. Its the 1st car I've ever had that did it, and especially that hit a 20°difference in 1 wheel.

You gotta give kudos to Poiseuille for that thermograph pic. It clearly shows how the dual cooling systems (radiators and intercoolers) were engineered. The glowing driver wheel radiator is clearly the main heat sink coming off the engine thermostat, it's job to make sure the center radiator isn't too hot (because the center AWIC goes right in front of it). You can see in the picture the darker AWIC in front of the bright center radiator, and then the passenger wheel AWIC is even darker/cooler before its coolant goes up to the TMIC.

I was thinking the same thing, a pic is worth a thousand words
