best 'quiet' street pad recommendation for AP9668/9449

Hi Guys,

What is the most quiet pad you can get for the AP9668/9449 BBK kit?

I've heard of DS2500, but anything else you can recommend?

Thanks,
Steve

I use to run OEM pads on street and pfc 11 at track. After i got my AP9660, i swapped to 2500 on streets and 1.11 at the track.
The 2500 are great for daily driving. No noise and do the job much like OEM. My m3 is my only/daily so keeping nice daily ride is important for me.
The 1.11 and pfc11 both sound like a school bus stopping. Very loud. (Although the 1.11 are a little quieter than the 11)

The last few times i went to track i even leave the 2500 in the rear and just swap my fronts out. 2500 have been doing good rear wheel track duty.

I know you were looking for other options but 2500 are pretty good overall general pad for bbk imo.

Thanks.. sounds like 2500 is the option to go for.

I have a full set of 2500 I'd sell for 9668/9449. The fronts have like 10 miles on them. The rear have a little more. Happy to send you pictures (measurements). Would definitely be cheaper than buying from Essex. 🧐.

Don't go 2500 on the 9668/9449 set up, 2500s are not really that heat resistant, similar bite compare to stock and they burn out quick! Also with such a track capable setup, you'll definitely need something beefy. Something like a 3.12 front 1.11 rear could work, really balanced in brake bias as well. You could also try DTC60 front and rear, if you pushing hard maybe DTC70 front, 60 rear.

Sorry I should of clarified.

I already have a setup for track - PFC05+PFC332

My concern is on the street, this combo squeals bad so I need to swap out while
driving on the street for something that doesn't make noise (like stock).

EBC makes yellowstuff that fit these calipers. DP4009R front and DP4031R rear. I might try these for the street whenever the DS2500 I have wear out. Those might be quiet. If only they made a redstuff pad in these shapes.

I ran 2500's in my M4 (9668/9449). I run DS3.12's in my E92 (9660/9449) on street with zero noise. First track day this weekend with DS3.12's in both cars. Hopefully they don't start to squeal after heavy use but I've ran the E92 with them for about 6k miles with no issues as far as noise goes.

The 3.12s I have in my 9668/9451 are absolutely terrible noise-wise on the street. Always get lots of cars freaking out as I pull up behind them while on the way back from the track...

One thing that's been consistent for me though, track pads are quiet after you first swap them in until the street pad's transfer layer is gone and the track pad is fully bedded. Then they're loud loud loud. This has been the case with RSL29, PFC08, and DS3.12.

Good to know. Hopefully I don't have to snag another set of 2500's for the street.

Hawk HPS 5.0.

Just installed them about 2,000 miles ago. They have been quiet and overall better than the OEM pad for feel, performance, and dust.

I have DS2500 on this AP setup. Zero noise. I was running some PFC pads on stock rotors for a few days which were crazy loud. Note I did have Essex pre burnish the rotors so not sure if that helped with noise on the DS2500.

Circling back on this. I did a track day with DS3.12's so they're properly used. The pads on the car with the 9668 squeal a little now at low speed. The car with the 9660 set up has made very little noise like it has for several thousand miles before the track day. If you want absolute silence then dont go with the 3.12's but for a set it and forget it pad I have no complaints. For reference I previously ran DS1.11/Uno's and the car squealed like a dump truck.
