I drive semi's for a living, so trucks are last on my mind, but I have noticed a small pattern like relationship of M3/M4 owners and the Ford Raptor. Seems almost every person that owns an M3/M4 either wants, owns, or prefers and Ford raptor to any other truck. Lol, seems odd to me, but funny too. Ford and BMW should look into this, haha

I’ve got a 16 Lariat super crew. Your description is exactly why I haven’t traded my 16 to get one. It would be a waste for me/my family. I’m pretty sure I’d never take it off road etc.

Seriously thinking about replacing the X5m with the raptor lol. You’re onto to something.

I think it just comes down to taste and appreciation for a well put together car or truck.

My dream is to have an M3/M4 to compliment this DD

Here's mine
Warranty, comfort, performance, resale, not to mention the cost of building something custom like that would be huge. The Raptor is the way to go. I’d give up little less travel for the whole package and add additional bolt-on travel if that wasn’t enough.

Was considering the Raptor recently. I was between another F80 and Raptor but then a CPO M6 came in that I couldn't pass up. I test drove the Raptor and was slightly underwhelmed :-/ it's super cool looking but driving it was less fun than I expected which was a huge disappointment. Maybe my expectations were just too high?

When I sat in the Tacoma i was shocked at how little space there was in the cabin...similar to the M3 If say?. Totally bummed me out bc I like the trucks a lot.

Yes, love my Tacoma but it is smaller on the inside then one would think. I think the M3 has slightly more room. This week I have been looking at possibly trading it in for a Tundra and get super low financing and a huge discount all in the name of more room inside. But I do not think I can get rid of my Tacoma, love the cement color and all the things that the pro trim brings to the table.

This is what happens after prolonged exposure to crappy sounding exhausts and the fake noises trying to cover them up - you’re brain goes haywire & you start to think it’s ok for your car to sound like a pissed off weedwhacker so naturally you are drawn to a truc that does the same. It’s ok, happens to the best of us

I daily trucks and have had both a first and second gen raptor - both awesome daily drivers. Can’t beat the versatility if you get a crew cab, very comfortable, plenty of power, ride is excellent on road, big mod market (see deavers #1...), and more than capable off road. I’m towing more so I moved up to a F250 - very happy with it but would love to be back in a raptor when not towing.

Am I the only one more interested in the Raptor Ranger than the F150 Raptor?

Raptors are awesome! I seriously looked into getting one before I decided on the M4.

This news is encouraging for those thinking about one now: https://speedtwitch.com/report-2019-...dohc-v8-motor/

When I was shopping for the F80. It was either the F80 or the Raptor. Ford wanted 20k markup for the Raptor so I bought the F80. I would consider trading the F80 for the Raptor as I was cross shopping the two when I was in the market.

It helps when it’s a spare car.

I’ve test driven them three different times as my Ford dealer keeps trying to get me into one. I’ve walked away each time feeling the same way you did. This is in comparison to my current 6 speed 3.5 Ecoboost F150. I didn’t really care for the 10 speed transmission and was expecting a bigger jump in power over my current truck. But, like you said they are still very cool and if I ever did serious off-roading it would be my choice for it plus family hauling duty.

FYI, if you buy one you can go out to Utah and Ford Performance takes you on some trails and other things for a day. I’ve heard that is very fun. You just have to do it within a year of purchase. I did the GT350 version (which was a blast) and Ford does a very good job with that program.

I've heard of the Utah program and think that's great they do it. I know a guy who did it after buying a Focus RS. I wonder how well ford backs people up after they track their own cars?

Anyway, yeah for how big and cumbersome the Raptor is, I'd want it to be amazing. I didn't think it was but maybe that's bc I was stepping into it from my M6 and just got too tied up in the hype. At least I know I'm not the only one less than blown away.

Ford is a really weird company. I haven’t heard of people being denied warranty work for tracking their cars. But, I have heard of them denying and in my case prolonging warranty work for regular issues.

There is a known problem with the splitters. They ship the GT350s without them to avoid damage and then they are installed at the the dealerships. Almost everyone of them is installed incorrectly. There is a current thread about one that came off and damaged a car. Ford is denying warranty work saying it is an aftermarket part and that it is between the owner and the dealership that installed it. It’s the second time I’ve heard of this.

Stuff like that and it seems like parts are routinely on nationwide backorder making warranty repairs take longer or multiple trips to the dealer. My rear brake pads were one of these back ordered parts.

So I know not completely analogous to the Raptor, but I’m guessing they have similar stories on their forums. One poster on the GT350 forums had a great line/point. He said it seems like GT350s are built on another planet when it comes to quality and reliability compared to the F150s. I agree with him as I’ve had a few F150s and all have been very solid FWIW.
