Don't have my VIN either, will get it from the dealer tomorrow. Mine has been 5500 since 1st July, my dealer wasn't aware of the issue and was still expecting it. Will be amazed if its not on the list
I don't think a lot of the dealers have any idea what is going on.. We know more than they do

It is the one benefit of the internet, bad news spreads like wild fire, dealers dont have a hope of keeping up.

Either way I am going to be pretty disappointed if my car is on that list

Yeah the Internet is a wonderful thing (sometimes)

I really hope mine isn't either as I have been waiting since April, if it's delayed it will be pushing 7 months by the time I get it :

If you read the notice you would see it affects the M2, M3, M4, M5, and M6 (plus some of the non-M 5 and 6 series cars), so it's obviously an issue with a differential component these cars all share.

Since it's a shared component, there's no reason it would only affect US cars. An M3 destined for the UK is made in the same place as an M3 bound for the US.

According to bmwvin it was built on 31-May-16. Chassis number starts with 5E2.....

Maybe they had a dodgy batch of diffs that were only fitted to a few cars in the date range, but not all M cars.

Hmm not sure then, maybe the list is not complete.. Not found anything else yet

Yes it looks like not every car has the dodgy diff, only 202 were affected

Good find Scott. Some of us will wait with baited breath and hope!

Tempted to delay taking it in for the RIS in case they take it off me. would only delay it by the maximum amount mind, which I think is around 200 miles. Probably need to find out for sure if it's affected so may contact the dealers in a couple of weeks, when they know a bit more.

Spoke to my dealer today, was supposed to be collecting my F83 ZCP this weekend. When I saw this news break I emailed him. He rang me back saying he got an email from BMW uk saying the same thing 5 mins after mine. He rang me later in the day saying unfortunately my car was also affected (was obviously gutted).

However I have seen that list of VIN numbers and mine is NOT on there ( mine starts with 5A).

So its possible that the 202 cars that were mentioned in that alert may have specific to the US, and we have an alternative list for the UK.

Or the dealers haven't the foggiest, and they are including all M cars until they have some clarification.

I hope it's the later, that they get some clarification and I get my car as scheduled, though something tells me that's not going to be the case!

Interesting, I said mine was 5O previously, but just double checked and mine starts with 5A0.

Mine was not on the list, but maybe there are UK cars affected, and we dont have a list for that yet.

Hmmm

My car was built on 14th June (week 24) as scheduled but not collected from dealer until Monday. My VIN is not on the list above.

What does your VIN start with?

Sure those VINs are for US cars. My car was built mid May and has a VIN starting K345 - seems a big jump for 2 months to have built over 300,000 M4s!

Sorry guys. I don't think that list is complete. I'm supposed to pick up my M4 in Munich this Tuesday. My CA was notified that my car was affected but the Vin isn't on that list.

I think you might be right, wondering if this was the first list and now they have found out more cars are affected

That's starting to seem more likely...

Damn

My car went in over a few hundred miles past 1200 for RIS, it's not an issue as long as it's not 1000s of miles over.

Yeah cool. My thinking is hang on to it till they get a resolution sorted. So it'll be in the dealer for a couple of days instead of potentially weeks!

Same situation, my VIN is not close to the ones on the list, but from what I read now that seems to be perhaps US only and not an indicator of whether mine is affected or not.

Its perhaps a larger issue and I am just waiting for my dealer to be informed if there is an issue or not. Until then I guess I just wait to see if the car turns up

Starts with 5E

VIN decoder shows mine built 14th June (as scheduled week 24).

Dealer confirmed this morning that mine effected so forum list probably US cars only.

Dealer awaiting further info on what fix is from BMW no details yet.

As I can't take car for RIS till mid September and lots of June cars will do far more miles than me carrying on as normal pending further info.

My car is K3 and I have just checked the vin decoder and mine was built on the 7th so it theory shouldn't be affected.. No idea why it's stuck

Can you point me in the direction of the VIN decoder? I googled one and put mine in but nothing came back
