If you aren’t going to track, you should drive a “regular” CGTS 4.0 to and you maybe surprised. That being said, the GT4 obviously is one hell of a car. I’m glad I resisted getting it though and sticking to the GTS for my needs. I friggen love it. Honeymoon hasn’t ended that’s for sure. |

718 (982) GT4 on the other hand is something I am actually able to afford on my own. It is still available for me to order for my own liking, one of the last few GT cars that isn't going to be full of tech like the 992 is. Although... I will also admit the look of the Cayman GT4 is a huge draw for me. All that can change of course if I drive it and find that I am unable to get used to it but, guess we will see in a few weeks. Will probably contact the GSM and my CA before or after Chinese New Years. Since they both already know my interest, then go from there. They will probably find it crazy I am doing this so early considering I just got into a Macan GTS lol. P.S. About the video, I'm surprised to hear that they didn't like the new Corvette.

Thanks man! I picked it up at night so barely got to look at it, drove it home like a grandma on the salty roads with numb legs (snowboarding all day) so I couldn't even tell you how it feels. And now it is sitting under 3 inches of snow because I have no room in the garage and it snowed last night. And that also means I prob can't drive it for a bit. Oh well... it is miiiiine!

Listen to the crazy stuff you have to do to try and get a Covid shot in Florida... It's like back in the day when you stood in line all night to get concert tickets just to see them sell out at 9:05.
My mom called me at 6:45 in the morning so we can be on the website at 7 o'clock. It's like a lottery where you have to wait for a button to activate, and we waited 2 1/2 hours watching each minute. Near the very end the button lit up and I picked a location and a time slot and put in all her information. When I click except it says the time slot is taken and they try again. When you pick another time slot you put in all the information all over again. It kept telling me my spot was taken about 10 times until all the appointments were taken. Then it says come back Friday and try again! Unbelievable!

I'm not surprised with the mess in Florida with high number of seniors. But the fact that they made it a free for all there makes no sense. |

On a much lamer note than Wah, I'm driving a new CX-5 this month and I gotta say this is the best driving CUV you can get below $60k - the interior is interesting: super basic, cheap materials, but VERY well done; everything is screwed together great, nothing feels hollow or cheap. Like you know everything *is* cheap, but it doesn't feel like it and you don't get that yuck feel. The one let-down is the seats: they're just not made for anyone over 5'10" - the seat pad hits me at mid-thigh and is much noticeably worse than, say, a GMC Terrain.
The performance is excellent though for its class - serious bang/buck. It's not high powered or anything (there's a turbo model with 320ft-lbs!), but plenty of power for what it has to do, good suspension, easy sport mode, easy to shut off the nannies, etc. If anything, it's so good performance-wise (for its class) that it reminds you of what it isn't ... as in if I wanted a cheap SUV for around town it would DEFINITELY be this one, but it would remind you you're not driving a better vehicle ... unlike, say a GMC or Toyota, which only reminds you you're in a mostly shitty CUV. the one i'm driving is ~$30k, and the fully decked out everything model is ~$40k ... negotiate down to, say, $35k and it's hard to see how you can beat it.

I gotta chime in here. I just noticed that even Justin @ Autotalent has been banned. M4Yoda has also been banned. I think its getting a little overboard without some explanation from the mods.

As for BMW, they created a brand niche in the 80s: euro luxury import ridiculously tilted towards performance. The Ultimate Driving Machine. In the mid-80s as a kid I remember reading about how stupid of a car the original E30 M3 was: who would buy such a ridiculous car? A two-door coupe that rode like a lumber truck? Track people had their track specials and normals would never shell out for such an impractical daily driver. Of course any car-kid like me thought it was dream-sauce just shy of a Countach. So that was BMW: bake Euro-import-luxury-performance into their whole line. (Benz was tank-built, Audi was safety, porsche was sports car, BMW was the unique approachable mix of perf and luxury) Of course in mid-90s they'd started to max out those market segments so now what? SUVs That was some crazy shit in the late 90s with mutha-fuckin BMW rolled out an SUV (prolly cause they'd bought land rover and were less afraid of the market segment). They were early into the SUV wave, and they rode it. Now BMW's an also-ran in the super crowded import luxury-performance without much differentiation. I guess they thought they could kill 2 birds by designing for the Asian market and also blowing up style conventions to go after the kids and grab some Tesla brand prestige to get their mojo back ... BMW's mistake is, you can't alienate your existing market by designing for a younger market who also can't afford to buy your vehicles. It's like Rolex re-styling into swatch, calling their existing well-heeled buyers dipshits, and then telling the kids the swatches are $10,000 so get in line. They're fucked. |
