It’s kinda funny really, but that G8X color is garbage too and not really helping it. |

To be fair, the M2cs was launched in November 2019, over a full year ahead of the G8X, and we haven't seen many reviews until this summer. BMW seems slow to put their cars in the hands of journalists in general.

I watched the video and it’s painful to look at this car in white as it really makes it look that much worse.
Honestly I can’t even find 1 exterior design element from G8x that I prefer over F8x. - Front is a disaster - Hood a disaster - Side character line gone - Hoffmeister kink gone - Fake side vents - Huge wheel gap with less aggressive stance - Huge overhangs especially rear - Rear tailights are meh and very derivative. I wish they used the unique OLED tails from M4cs - The black rear diffuser is grotesque and looks like an Ebay special especially in that gloss black finish. I did find one element I prefer actually- the exhaust tips are nicely done, good size and proportional to overall car. The F8x ones were too small as they had to leave room for Mperf upgrade. I also like the headlights. |

There seems to be a M3 6 speed local to me, so I will see if I can drive it.
I will say I am impressed with the numbers on the tuned S58s. The chassis and "experience" is what I'm curious about. Other than the design, hopefully this is a only BMW marketing disaster. |

Maybe the wider wheels with their ability to fit wider rubber. But that's just another attribute that contributes to the car's weight gain. Besides the obvious aesthetics, the added claimed curb weight is the biggest downfall for me. I mean, the F8x grew in size over the E9x but it managed to trim a few pounds via engineering ingenuity. Not so anymore. I beat a dead horse here but whatever. It needs to be reiterated.

They should rename it baby puke yellow. Absolutely hideous in person. Also the muffler system in the G8X causes a big bump in the rear, and the front end looks like it hit a wall.

that is such an akward rear end design ... look at the convex line from the top of the trunk coming down to the bumper ... somebody actually approved this for production ... hell no!

I’m heading to my local dealer tomorrow to take a peak of the G8X. We shall see how it goes.

That brings me to notice another thing. Why would they put the parking sensor at the crease in the bumper with multiple inches of rear bumper to go? A little odd to me. That would be a very awkward thing to back into where the crease would make contact before the massive overhanging center portion.

I think it’s starting to hit me that this is legit the new M3/M4. I’ll still give it it’s day in court when/if I can ever drive it, but man... that pic that Stein_325i posted with the red F82 and green G80, the photo below from BMWBlog, and a couple random side/rear 3/4s shots I’m seeing lately are really starting to sink in. I think I just mainly am having a lot of trouble even recognizing these have the same lineage. Not trying to beat a dead horse as this is nothing new, and purely a “wow, this is it” moment for myself (and the 15 year old kid in me that fell in love with M3s). Figured I’d just vent it here amongst good company.

Definitely looks like it was phoned in last minute to either pass a crash reg or increase the muffler size without a full redesign. Absolutely horrid and in my opinion just as offensive as the front. BMW was just clever in not showing unflattering side shots in their marketing, because it conceals its magnitude pretty well at almost any other angle.
