So many unsold M3 CS on the lots - what will the dealers do?
I've been tracking M3s for a while hoping to get one when my lease is up on my 340 in Dec. Unfortunately, BMW completely got rid of incentives for leasing (even though they kept a 3k incentive for the M4). As a result, I've seen pretty much static inventory for the last month or so at dealers in the NYC area since I guess not many people are interested in getting a car that will lease for about 1200 / mo at the end of production. On top of that, they seem to have a ton of M3 CS on the lots. I get the whole special edition pricing but these cars range from 100-110k. On top of that, they are 2018 models and 2019 models are being released by most manufacturers now.
My question is what will dealers do with all this inventory? It doesn't seem like people are rushing to buy what is left of the last of the M3s that are out there. Do dealers just have to suffer the carrying cost of these cars? Even if they gave an extra 5k off, it hardly seems like a bargain. Curious to know your thoughts on this. |

Probably great discounts coming soon. Ill be in no rush to buy a M3 at the moment. Just wait for the perfect discount Q1 2019.

Maybe even sooner than 1Q 19. Dealers that need to make numbers before the end of the year may be letting these cars go at a loss in late Dec.

The most I've seen off MSRP recently is 6.5k off an 81k build which includes 1k of loyalty. Kind of sucks considering last year I was seeing 10-11k off with incentives on an 80k build. I am going to extend my lease by two months to see if i can get a better deal (apparently all BMW allows right now without a build number on a new car). Hopefully by Dec the numbers will be better. Even 0.9% financing would help encourage me to purchase it. I'm seeing used 2018 low mileage cars in the low to mid 60s which makes it even more difficult for me to pull the trigger for a new car at 75k.

I kind of don't get the pricing. The CS is special, but $100k?
You can take a used base M3 and build something mind blowing for that price. |

Stop buying them and you'll get better offers. Let them get desperate.

Not sure anyone will though with those horrible residuals. I saw an M4CS in person the other day at my local dealership. Nice ride but not worth anywhere near 100K+ BMW is smoking some serious dope lately |

Yeah the CS are great cars but definitely not at 100k. That was/is the problem with the M4 GTS too. Dealership marked them up and now they cannot sell them because no one wants them.
Their mistake but too late.

84.5k is really decent if you want a CS.

Just read today the G80s will be putting down around 500hp and likely still have a great chance of offering a manual transmission. And all this in a non CS model coming in cheaper. So why not wait and get real door handles?
