New MyBmw App - Apple watch?

I remember the old app, connected drive, allowed you to synch the app with your Apple watch and would allow you to open/close the car with it

I didn't get comfort access with mine, so this functionality would be quite useful

However, doesn't seem like they integrated it for apple watch on the new app. So is it just not possible yet? or am I missing something?

I'll answer my own question after having investigated a bit

So apparently, the Apple Watch functionality through connected services has been replaced with the "Digital Key"

These are the requirements your car needs to enable a digital key

"Any BMW with factory-original Comfort Access (S322A), automatic transmission and iDrive 7.0 or higher is compatible with Digital Key for iPhone. Plus, almost every upcoming vehicle in the BMW range will be compatible with this technology — including the following list of cars built after July 2020"

Essentially, they discontinued the service for older cars. Kinda lame but okay.

Thanks for replying with the update. That’s a bummer!

Sheesh no wonder the connected drive app wouldn’t open this weekend. I hate it when this stuff changed and you are forced to find out when you need it.

That said, also bummed they made functionality obsolete for those of us with older cars

"Old Cars" haha, my f80 is MY2019 so a 2018 car

3G connectivity gone soon, connected drive don't work anymore, fuck BMW

At least make it open source or allow you to make use of functionality in some aftermarket way

Yeah I was more referencing those in situations such as myself and the 3g piece which isn’t entirely BMW fault. Mine is a later 2015 but doesn’t matter, it’s beyond obsolete in the tech world.
