Edit - please note the typo on the thread title - it's a 2017 M4, not 2019
Hello everyone Planing buy out my 2017 M4 with 24k miles in a couple of weeks. I have 1 year of warranty left but I wanted to check here what are the common issues you all may have seen that I should be potentially ready to deal with outside of warranty My assumption is the car is overall very reliable and no huge maintenance costs are involved in regular maintenance schedule Couple of issues I've had so far 1. AC stopped working around 15k miles and the compressor was replaced 2. Right suspension (bolt joint I believe ) started clunking on braking and was fixed I've noticed differential oil leaks notes in the forum Any other turds I should be thinking about? Thank you all in advance |

Ah ok! That makes more sense
I too had my compressor replaced during my break in service as it was vibrating weirdly when it comes on. Took about 2 weeks coz the compressor changed for 2018 but was not updated in the parts manual and had to be ordered from Germany. I hear very soft clunking when I reverse into spaces and once in a while a loud clunk when I accelerate hard into a left turn. Haven't figured out what the sound is yet but I suspect is the same problem many are having around the mount nut. There's a long thread about it in the suspension forum. |

I've only got about 8K on mine, so I really wouldn't know! My plan is more time based than mileage based since I end up with mostly shorter trips. So at the 3 year mark, I'll do the spark plugs (they're relatively easy to get to) and brake fluid and at the 4 year mark I'll do the diff and DCT oil change. Did the same plan with the previous car and it ran with no issues at all until traded in at 10 years.

Valve cover gaskets/oil pan gaskets are common; they usually live 3-4 years before needing to be replaced. Some make it longer, some shorter. The climate also plays a role. |

Check your charge cooler level regularly.
They're known to leak and likely $1.5K+ to replace at the dealer. Aftermarket charge coolers are mostly made in China and look worse than stock units with specious technical benefits.
