Options or base?

I have no problem with those features being options, as long as the pricing is commensurate. Many don't want/need all these features (heated seats in Florida?; Nav for a track car?). Since the outgoing model was ~$60k, I'd be happy in the $63k range without these. Problem I have is how options are packaged in the US sometimes limits choice.

That "concept" is a Photoshop. Those wheels were taken off of an M6 Gran Coupe.

Damn, so much for that. Thanks for the heads up.

At any rate, that Photoshop--at least to me--looks better than what we're getting.

This car doesnt give many of us the same feeling we have when we look at and drive our "older" M3's.
The fact you have current M3 makes you Biased. you own current model which makes you embrace Your car more so you are prone to reject anything new which will make "older" M3s get "old". Don't deny it. It has happened before and will continue happening for many generations to come.

I am not saying at all that E9x Ms are bad. They are great cars. But please don't hate on the new generations but unfortunately it's usually/naturally the current M3 owners that do.

I can agree with portions of this statement. People tend to reject the new.....it happens every time a new ///M car (..or any car for that matter) is introduced.

Do you think there is anything of value in hearing from those with a history of driving/owning M cars?

Should we give more weight to the Volkswagen or Chrysler owners?

There is value when there is objectivity. There is no value when their contributions are abject and negative, and most of what they have to offer is conjecture (..as it all tends to be at this point because NONE of us have driven an S55 powered ///M car).

Sincerely,

Ex multiple E46 and multiple E9X ///M3 owner

There is a balance to be struck. I have seen any criticism of the F8x dismissed completely because the commenter drives an M car already. It goes both ways.

If I am on a 911 board I wouldn't dismiss the opinion of someone who has spent the last twenty years of driving behind the wheel of 911 products.

On the other hand, I would be less interested in that person though if they only had ceaselessly negative things to say about a newer Porsche product.

Fair points! Agreed! I am just growing tired of the constant "this new turbo motor will/can never be better than the great S65". It's nonsensical! If the S55 proves to be a less engaging motor, then so be it. The operative word is proves.

That is not a real concept. It is just a real good photoshop in anticipation of the M4 based on the 4 series concept.

Yeah, aajami above pointed that out to me.

Admittedly, it's a pretty good photoshop though. I actually like it better than what we're getting.

My thoughts entirely. Looks too bland to my eye. And whilst I like understated, that's just too understated for me.
