I still say that this sounds a little like a Porshe flat 6.

I personally like the sound. The E9X only guys won't get it, it's a I6 not a V8 and it is not going to try to sound like one either. Having a '14 335i and a E92 in my garage that I'm car sitting , I have spent a lot of time behind the wheel of each and enjoy the personality of both. Yes, the V8 of the previous generation is amazing and the throttle blip on downshift is like a drug but I'm sure this car will have some personality traits that will make it loved by many. For example the pop on upshift my 335 w/Mperf exhaust is awesome and I know the F10 M5 guys enjoy this as well. I think it's a nice blend of the E46 metallic sound and late model N55's... A set of DP's and an aftermarket exhaust will just make this thing even better. Just my two cents

Here is my view:

A. The stock exhaust does not sound great.
B. Exhaust is probably the easiest part of the car one can improve, and this is one area that aftermarket manufacturers do a great job at, so I don't think this will be too much of a problem.
C. The nimble, lightweight, torquey feeling of the new car will be what I will love about. In my mind, it's an E46 with the F10 technology gadgets. Cannot wait to get mine.

Well, I certainly hope buyers aren't getting this car for the exhaust note!

The MPE is a must to fix this.

Goes to show you that listening to cell phone videos of unloaded exhausts doesn't mean much.

Having said that...there is something very agricultural about the noise...not a good thing.

Sounds very similar to the E46 M3, which was horrible with stock exhaust but amazing with any decent aftermarket exhaust. I think it sounds pretty good but has tremendous potential.

I don't know your financials but 12k left? You can't be doing bad at all owning the M3 and buying a new M so keep it. Low miles, paid off? It's a no brainer, that is a manly mans drive way seeing both cars parked next to one another

i dont like the sound of the stock exhaust but as another member had put it, i am not buying the car for the exhaust sound. Its got a lot more going for it and someones going to manufacture an exhaust system that i would be happy with over stock.

i just have a sneeky feeling that BMW purposely made it sound that way in hopes of profiting off a better-sounding titanium exhaust system through their performance parts line. Same thing goes for the CF front splitter, rear diffuser, etc... which really irks me because the margins on products sold through their performance parts business is probably greater than if they were to offer them as options for the car.

I never like exhaust vids of cars standing still. Once under load I bet this sounds like a monster (judging by the BMW track videos).

I've been saying that also. It's smart business for bmw to capaitize on the aftermarket stuff like black kidney grill, carbon fiber bit and pieces. I think stock box sound mean probably with the oem m perfomance exhaust. Can not wait for this car to hit the street.
