Do you guys valet your car?

Any personal horror stories with your BMW? Curious to know what you guys have experienced. I see articles that pop up on the news or Jalopnik every now and then and it makes me nervous...

Never, ever under any circumstancea. You have seen Ferris Buellers day off, right? I am sure others will say sure they do it all the time and it is just a M3/4 which is a Honda Civic but the reality is it is an expensive , powerful car and if anyone is going to damage my car it is going to be me

Lol. I argued with a valet once. I told him I’d park the car and he told me no, he’ll do it. “I’ve driven better cars than yours” lol

Told him I didn’t care. I’m going to pay you the valet fee and park it myself. He literally tried to kick me out of the parking lot.

All that for some Korean BBQ lol

The one and only time I did it, I came out to find the valet leaning on my car with jeans on. Sure there are bigger things to worry about in life but I wouldn't do that to anybody's vehicle.

I steer clear. If I have to park myself and walk a greater distance I would rather do that.

even if it was an old E36 M3 or s2K that isn't very valuable anymore, I still wouldn't valet it

Never my car. We let a valet park my wife's Honda Accord and they scraped it all up. It took two months of arguing with the company to get them to pay for it, and obviously I'd be much more upset if it happened to my much better car.

when I was a lot younger I worked a summer in Valet, after seeing what all goes down in there I personally would never valet unless its a must. Some hotels or events as you know will have valet only but I have been fortunate to not be driving my cars at those so far

I have the attendants in the garage in my building park my cars. It is a tight garage and having the attendants park the cars makes any damage the garages responsibility. I have known all of them for several years and I know they will take good care of my cars. I have them wash it when I bring it in and then they cover it and park it in a dedicated spot. They have never damaged my cars.

When the BMW goes in for service I have Manhattan BMW pick the car up from my Manhattan garage and return it. The attendant has the BMW valet sighn off on any existing damage (there is none) and the garage attendant checks for new damage (so far so good) when the car is returned.

I have had my cars valet parked at several hotels including the Ritz Carlton Beach Club in Naples Florida, The Boca Raton Resort and Club and the Kimpton Vero Beach Resort and Spa. The attendants there are very responsible and are used to taking care of nice cars and they park them in indoor garages with large spaces. Since we tended to stay at those places long term the attendants got to know me and my cars.

I have never had a bad experience.

I don't valet park at establishments I am not familiar with.

This. Most valet companies are cool with this option. I would've told the jackass valet you've driven better cars, but if you've ever owned one you'd understand.

Never under any circumstances do I let anybody touch my cars. You should see what I do to the inside when they must go to the dealer, painters tape on the sills, panels, seat covers, steering wheel cover, custom cover over center console and shifter. Nobody will treat it with the same level of care that you do. Trust me you may get lucky a few time or you just don’t see the little scuff they put on it until a few weeks later.

Drove my wife’s old m235 to Vegas, we have a Marriott timeshare, First time there found out valet only, I went and parked in a secure spot at another resort and took a cab back. Yep, hardcore but that’s how I roll, lol.

Anytime someone else is in your car, accidents can happen. My 911 was getting PPF at a very high end installer, guess what, very small scuff on the front of my seat, pointed it out, they said “ but we were really careful and it’s pretty superficial “. Really? F-k you, that cost me $130 to fix and it’s my car.

Trust nobody.

Well look at you Mr fancy pants.

I have had to baked my M3 several times with no issues thankfully. Depending on the place I may give the valet some $ and ask him to keep it up front.

I've valeted my vehicle on several occasions with no issues. I tell them to park it up front and tell them I'll take care of them. The car is usually parked just a few yards away before I even walk away.

Don't get too self-righteous fellas. Those jokers driving your car at the dealership when you take it in for service are no better than the valet attendants you detest.

I'm sure all of us know someone who used to be a valet. You should ask them whether you should valet your car (spoiler alert: they will say no)

So true. While I don’t believe people try to mess something up on purpose remember that other people’s idea of acting carefully is abuse to me.

Sorry. Forgot about the bling on my belt that scratched your leather seat.

But I carefully placed the car keys on the roof and carefully slightly dragged the steel keys across the paint when I picked them up.

I carefully got into you car by grabbing the leather steering wheel, I forgot I don’t trim my long fingernails that scratched the hell out of the leather.

I can go on and on, but I get in and out of my cars and wash and detail them like I am performing open heart surgery, yeah, I know I can’t expect anyone else to act this way which is why I avoid it unless I can’t, I.e. service. However, I my SA for both BMW and Porsche know I am nuts but that’s still no guarantee.
