50,000 to 100,000 units over 5 years is a mass production car. Especially when they're going to make a coupe, sedan, convertible, 4 door coupe, 5 door coupe, convertible, etc. versions of this.

They're not going to be able to make these brakes by hand as in the video. The supplier will figure out a way to make 10x as many for a fractional increase in cost with automation. They've got their 5 year contract and a large order for these. I don't think the primary appeal of this is that it's expensive and rare. It's good engineering.

Another data point we haven't talked about is PCCB is $7,400 on the Porsche Cayman.

I just saw that you replied to this.
You are correct the carbon fiber cloth and carbon ceramic brakes are two different material but that's not the point of issue.
Have you ever seen the carbon ceramic brakes on the VW group cars,(including Porsche) ?
They are SGL units with SGL printed/stamped on them.

A regular rotor can't pass this test

There's some confusion where it sounds like someone took a factory street brake pad out on track with CCB and melted it rather quickly. This is unsurprising. Street pads disintegrate at around 600 degrees F; race pads are good for sustained 1200 degrees F.

If you put a Pagid Yellow RS29 race pad on the M4 steel rotors, you will probably get 30,000 miles out of the rotor and 15,000 out of the pads.

If you put a Pagid Yellow RSC1 race pad for ceramic discs on M4 CCB, you should get 90,000 out of the rotors and 15,000 out of the pads.
Where can I purchase the Pagid RSC1 Race Pad for Carbon Ceramic Discs on M3???

just to revive this thread, as im looking for replacement pads for my CCB's (4 track days and 15000 miles over 1.5 years) im replacing as the fronts are at about 50%

i have just emailed Pagid, and they do have a set of RSC1 pads for the M3/M4 ceramic brakes, just to let you guys know.

BUT, im now worried about rotor life, ive read differing opinions, some people seem to thing the RSC1 pads will extend the life of the ceramic rotors, and some say it will cut it down? anyone on here have any answers?
