Build started

My 2016 M3 build was supposed to be completed in week 27, but when I called a few days ago, the rep told me it got pushed to week 28. Just called 5 minutes ago and found out that it's currently in production with an estimated completion date of 7/7!!!

Are these Req. prod week 27s or Conf. Prod Week 27s? I have the former and a Conf. week 29. I called the number today and it said I'm scheduled for production but there is no confirmed date.

Has this happened to anyone? My SA sent me a screenshot of the production number with the weeks listed on there.

I was originally week 27 but just talked to a rep and it's been pushed back to week 28. That makes sense since week 27's should have started production by now to be finished that week. Week 28's should be starting production sometime before the 1st (pending further delays).

I just called and was given VIN finally!! Too bad you got pushed back that sucks.

You guys think I can enjoy my new M4 for the month of september? Vancouver BC.

September seems realistic for cars starting production now but no one really knows for sure. What color did you go with?

I was a Req. Prod of week 27 and a Conf. Prod of Week 28 when I got my production number. It now shows 27 for both and my car is in production to be completed by 7/3. When you call the 800 talk to a representative. They are super happy to give you any details then can on your production week/dates. I received the message "there is no confirmed date" from the automated voice system up until the day after it started production (6/23).

Black sapphire metallic, do colors matter for timing?

I also heard west coast takes a couple weeks longer to deliver than the east.

Cars in production now should expect mid august delivery or earlier.

Not sure if color matters was just curious cause the first couple M4s I saw in production were SO. Mine is mineral grey.

Still not working for me either. I opened a ticket for the issue. They see the M4 but it looks funny in their systems. They were surprised it is causing this issue.

Hopefully the rest of week 27 builds should start production tomorrow or this weekend. In order for it to end production on week 27 it should start any day now if there's no setbacks.

Does anyone know if a VIN has a color associated to it, does it change later if the build literally started a day ago? The VIN color is on BMWVIN.com, not BMWUSA (not that BMW website is anymore accurate

Car started the build yesterday or something.

Yes since the website is down I called again to see whats going on and the rep told me build completion date was pushed up from July 1 to June 30.. Guys at the factory must be on hourly red bull shots. Hopefully they cut another few days off lol

No, not until way later.

Its my understanding (YMMV) that VIN gets assigned shortly after production but all of the information with it is basic. You may not see you the correct color, options, etc until (well for me 2x) the info got updated almost at the end of production.

I called the 1-800 number this morning and to my surprise the car started production as of this morning with an estimated completion date of july 8th.

I just spoke with a rep from the 800 number and she confirmed that my 2016 M4 started production on 6/24 and she gave me my VIN

This is a pleasant surprise, as my original production was scheduled for week 28.

I just added my VIN on BMWUSA and it shows the correct color, but says "unknown model" in the description.
