Speaking of high spring install quotes

I hear all the time about quotes coming in high for spring installs. For the hell of it, I was toying with paying someone to put in my eibachs just so I wouldn't have to mess with it in early January (going to be super busy). Shopped around and got a few quotes in Austin, TX.

Check out this quote I got from Dr. Bimmer... it's a doozie!

"it is 9 hours of labor to install springs. plus you would most likely need an alignment but we can perform a free alignment check after and see how much it changed after install and advise you. so $1170 plus shop fees without the alignment, add $180 if you need the alignment. I love my eibachs, very good balance not too slammed, but just right with no compromise to ride quality. We are scheduling for after Christmas. Thanks-"

$1,350 for springs and alignment!!!!! 9 hours! Ha!

In any case, I found a reputable shop willing to do it for $400 plus alignment ($150). If anybody wants a referral I can let you know via PM. I'm going to do them myself.

One of my quotes was $2100 for the same job. Ended up finding a great domestic shop and paying $450 including alignment.

If you know some of the tricks it can be done in 30 minutes on a lift. Struts dont even come off the car.

Same here in Atlanta where I found some high end shops quoting me 800 + alignment, absurd. One shop even told me it actually takes 4 hrs but they will charge me 8 hrs by the book and that's where they make the money , he had the audacity to tell me flat on my face

Eventually got it done for 600 bucks as that's the lowest I could find , in reality should not be paying more than 400 bucks . I guess north east installers are much better in this aspect

I wouldn't pay more than 200 to have them installed literally takes longer to jack up the car and remove wheels than it does to install springs

That's a ridiculous quote. I spent less than that on the installation of my front anti-roll bar, alcantara steering wheel, M-Performance front splitter, and CSF heat exchanger. I know it's not the same part/labor, but good for comparison.
