The exhaust sound of my new M4 is quieter than my old M3
Forgive the ignorant question, but I just switched from an F80 M3 to an F82 M4.
The M3 had a stock exhaust and I loved the sound, especially when I engaged the throttle mapping button near the shift lever or on a cold engine start (I could notice the instant difference). My new M4 is also stock, but the exhaust sounds a lot quieter and there is no difference with the throttle mapping button on. Is this normal? Am I missing something? Any insights and/or enlightenment are welcome. Cheers! |

I'm new to this as well. Just picked up my 2016 M4 less than two weeks ago and haven't had the chance to read about all the settings. I do notice that my car starts in Efficient mode for the engine setting. It's pretty quiet when driving. When I switch it to Sport, the exhaust is much louder/throatier. Not sure if that's what you're experiencing but that's what this newbie here has noticed.

Was "exhaust sound" in previous M3 = active sound and now active sound disabled by previous owner in M4 (if used)?
