Good question, they approved it and I purchased/had it installed on my M4CS by a BMW dealer. Just like my previous ZCP M3. A couple of months later my dealer called me out of the blue and said BMW NA told them I needed to bring it in and have it returned to stock as it was no longer approved for the M4CS.

The only thing I and my dealer got out of them was that in a fully lowered position (which I was never going to do) it could rub and then possibly create a safety hazard. From what the mechanics were telling me the CS has essentially the same clearance as ZCP and civic M3/4s so they had no idea why they would now say it was a problem. So who the hell knows as I could never get a straight answer from anyone at BMW NA and nor could my dealer it sounds like.

My $.02 worth of bullets:

Having owned my M4 for over two years now, I'd have a tough time picking it over the latest iteration of the C63 two-door. Call it a wash.

-I respect the engineering behind the M4 much more than the C63 (e.g. rear subframe bolted directly to body in white straight out of motorsport; proven durable S55 with excellent cooling characteristics)

-I like the aspect of driving a bi-turbo V8

-I like the white on gray analog dials on the M4 as it reminds me of my beloved E46 M3; conversely, sick/tired of looking at yet another LCD screen every. single. day.

-I strongly prefer 3,650lbs to 4050lbs

-M DCT is top class

-I don't like how the GL to C to E to G to S to XYZ all sound alike because they shove pretty much the same wet-sump AMG V8 lump in 'em (couldn't care less about the whole hand-built one dude marketing gimmick)

-I don't like the ornamental interior as it simply won't age nearly as well as the more spartan and straightforward M interiors

-The floating rear calipers is a joke

-For every C63 I see, there are 10 F8Xs

-M following is much more enthusiast oriented, the sales numbers show it --> M's aftermarket ecosystem trounces AMG's

-Though the M4 ZCP with factory aero bits is the best looking M car ever in my eyes, the C63 definitely turns my head

-Much prefer the projector lens'ed AMG headlights v. cheapo reflective icon or non-icon

-I so %^#$! wish my M4 had adaptive cruise

-The AMG's sport seat option is money

You can't lose in this deal. Both are awesome rides.

The HAS isn't listed as a CS M Performance option. The CS front spoiler is pretty low on the underside brackets and maybe a ground clearance problem BMW foresee with the HAS.

Are you certain it is lower than the M Performance front Spoiler?

Then why did BMW NA approve it in the first place? Also my M3 ZCP scraped the splitter on certain spots where my M4 CS never did. Both were set to BMW recommended ride heights.

Edit: Also, if that were the case it would've been an easy explanation instead of the runaround that I and my dealer got.

I have no measurements, but by the eye test to me the CS splitter clearance and wheel gap in general were bigger/higher than my ZCPs (M Performance splitter).

Yes, I fitted a CS spoiler to my M4 ZCP and the underside brackets the MP spoiler doesn't have scraped on my driveway at the same ride height with Eibach springs. The M4 ZCP and M4 CS have the same front springs and struts and they're pretty high at the front stock.

Having said that, you can lower a GTS considerably at the front with coil overs and lower spoiler so ground clearance issue doesn't make sense to reject the HAS on a CS unless they consider the HAS spring rates aren't correct for the CS shock calibration that's different to the ZCP.

I have both, albeit my C63 S is the T model (estate), which I think looks better than the saloon (sedan).
