Spark Plug change cost
So my f82 is 4 years old & has 28k miles on it. Just bought it used and looking to change spark plugs. They’re ~144$ on ECS tuning, so I was gonna buy those and get it done at a shop. For labor I’ve been quoted anywhere from 200-564, all at private shops. What’s a realistic price for spark plug change? I’d be about 350$ in with the cheapest shop. Can’t DIY because I need maintenance records for my extended warranty.
Did anyone here get it done at an independent shop? If so how much? Also, will my CBS tell me if I need new plugs? Maybe I’m changing them prematurely (they’ve never been changed before). |

If they tell you that it takes more than 2 hours tell them to .... ...
I did mine Sunday, my first time btw and it took right around 2 hours because I did my charge pipes which (Vargas) sent crappy hardware that I had to find and replace with stuff in my garage. So it probably took 1.5 hours taking my time, taking it slow learning a new procedure. I can probably do it in 45 minutes or less if I tried now. It's just layers, plastics and 2 braces, charge pipes too which is why I went with silicone so they don't have to get removed and I don't have to worry about dropping anything into one of the turbos. Here is a tool that helps a LOT if you DIY: https://amzn.to/2Zk9AnH you can loosen/ tighten all the clamps in seconds instead of using a 1/4 ratchet at 1 click per turn for 10 minutes Rear charge pipe bottom bolt can be accessed easier with a wobble extension which I didn't have. Edit: Don't get the plugs there, get these, have them gapped at .20 and with FCP Euro warranty you'll never pay for plugs again:

So purchasing the product and having a receipt with timestamp on it isn't proof? I understand they are trying to cover their side, but it seems like such easy basic maintenance.

i'm going in for my 2018's 3rd oil change in October 2020 and i will have under 13k miles, all they still change the spark plugs? my maintenance term should expire in March 2021. I don't drive this as a daily only warm days.
will the dealer delay the spark plug change prior to expiration of maintenance plan? |

Recently I went to a different dealer than my usual one to take care of something, they ended up changing my plugs and air filter without asking me first. I'm only at 18k miles and have 9 months of the free maintenance remaining. A month ago I installed BMC filters and the idiot replaced them with new stock filters, and the plugs should've been replaced closer to 30k instead. |

I don't driven the winter with summer tires, can I get the plugs done and put the car away? I'd hate to pass up on the last remaining services before the maintenance is up. I put about 6 to 7k miles a year at most. Thoughts? |

FWIW I have a 2018 BMW M3 with about 21k miles. On the 3rd service I asked them to do the spark plug service since my maintenance runs out in November.. Was told it was "too early" or that they're system wouldn't allow them to?
I don't know how true that is.. But I'm gonna try again closer to November when the car has more miles. |
