Hey all! New F82 M4 owner here, loving the f*ck out of it but wishing I’d ordered it with CarPlay. Question on that subject. I had it with my M240i but it only used part of the screen like BMW purposely designed it to be sh*tty. Can anyone confirm is it the same in the 4 series iDrive?

I believe 2015 and 2016 model years for F8x do not have CarPlay capability from factory.

If you have 2017+ you can get Carplay with the half screen, as you mentioned.

What year is your M?

If you're earlier than 2017 you would have to do something like the Bimmertech/Aliexpress MMI module (search on forums for it) or do a proper OEM IDRIVE 6 retrofit, which is expensive but what I did.

It's the same weird 2/3 screen. CarPlay on both my '18 and '20 sucks arse. It's a buggy mess that connects successfully maybe 2/3 of the time. I'd rather have a reliable connected option v the wireless mess BMW made of it. The KIA rental bang on every time.

Count me lucky, but the wireless CarPlay in my M4 is perfect. Zero problems.

I have a 2017 build for 2018 and came with wireless CarPlay and recently had the full screen patched. It works great
