F80 pulling to the right
Since I took delivery of the awesome F80, on the interstate it pulls very slightly to the right - just enough to notice and just enough to continually correct. It's actually fatiguing on a long trip.
At the 1200 mile service yesterday, I asked the dealer to check the alignment. They CHARGED me for it (separate issue I guess), and the car still does it. Could it be that the slight drainage camber of the interstates I've driven may pull the car right because of the aggressive front tires? My E93 M3 does not do this. Actually, NO other car I have does this. Input from the gang, please.

When I took initial delivery, this was actually something I played with.. driving down highway, line up, ease off the wheel, etc... mine was straight and true as far as I could tell.
Seems a little bit weird that the dealer charged you just to check the alignment on a brand new car. I mean, I'm sure they charge to do alignments after messing with tires but... eh. Would've been nice to see them waive something like that if you're thinking you might be having a problem. Did they give you the printout that actually showed your alignment, and everything looked good?

Maybe tire pressures are down on one side? Just a thought.

I have the same problem, even after an alignment at 1200 miles.

Maybe you got the Republican model. Try listening to some Bill Maher on Sat radio and it should even out.

1100 miles during my euro delivery. No pulling to the right. Car tracks like an arrow unless you are in the horrible comfort mode where the the car has no on-center feel and sways in all directions on autobahn...

Seriously though, can't believe your dealer charged you. Generally an alignment check is free, then $99 if they actually have to make an adjustment.

Actually, did you get the 18's? Maybe this is an 18" problem? Also my wife's 2006 Lexus 400h had electric steering and it badly pulled with the crown in the road. Alignments made no difference until a software update lessened the problem.

Although I really don't want BMW to mess with the EPS cuz except for the pull to the right it's pretty good. Btw I love the 18s. Really glad I got them over the 19s! |

How would your car pulling right offset roads draining right?

I can't believe the dealer charged you.
That's an issue that should be covered under warranty.

I have the 18's, and the tire pressures are all set exactly to BMW specs.
Interstates with center Jersey walls will generally drain to the right, which is the case on the PA Turnpike where I spent a lot of time this week. I suspect the car may simply be "hunting" due to the camber. I hope not. That would be a PITA. I do have a TV in the Man Cave/garage, so I hope that the car's Fox News exposure hasn't impacted the handling. I guess I should pipe NPR into the garage all weekend and then see if it's fixed.

could it be tramlining? I believe this is more noticeable with wider tires and 255 up front is relatively wide. I noticed this a bit in my e46 m3 when I had a square 255 setup but not when I had the 245/275 f/r setup. just a thought.
does it do this on ALL roads at ALL speeds or just some?

First of all, I would call corporate and ask them why my $70k car with 1200 miles need an alignment? Of course, this is only if you haven't hit anything with your car.. 2nd, I would ask them how come an alignment check at less than 12k on the odometer needs to be charged. Honda and toyota don't charge for alignment for the first year or 12k miles. I actually can't believe that you actually paid them, if it was me, I would have thrown a fit right there and then.. Lol
