Definitely recommend u guys updating!!

I mean don't get me wrong, it's awesome that we can get many of the ZCP changes through simple coding, but we shouldn't have to "trick" the dealer in to doing it. Kind of insulting actually.
Because unless you're on these forums, you probably won't know about it. And if you're not aware there's a problem, they won't change it. Because with any change - comes the chance of things going wrong.

But I do feel that BMW should be more open to the "I know about it and I want it" upgrade, rather than the bullshit we seem to need to go through.

I'm the opposite - I like everyone to be on my latest software. In fact, I have ways of blocking people from using old versions that are too old - upgrade asshole or GTFO!

Would a vehicle with a 4/14/16 production date have the most updated software? I should receive it in 2 weeks.

We don't know yet. Mine was produced about a week after yours. From what I can understand you should be able to tell if you have the coding software and cable.

Since 58.3 came out now people are getting that which is the latest but the improvements may have been made prior. On M3 Cutters they were talking about the improvements after 58.2 with someone if I recall saying even earlier.

Any car produced on or after March 1 should have 58.x

I know m3cutters used 58.2 but there is no difference in chassis tuning between 58.0-58.3, only small changes to iDrive (NBT)

My exhaust sound changed, there is no doubt about that.

Ive had three people comment on it, and none knew about the update. One of them is my neighbor who has his master bedroom right in the line of me backing out of the driveway. He noticed it the week I had it done. Poor guy.

In my attempt to get this done under warranty, I think I goofed up the explanation! It was early and coffee didn't kick in yet!! The SA did mention that he will check the TSBs and if there's an update available it will take a couple of hours..

Is there a way to find out what software version one has on his m3/4?
Idrive only shows the multimedia software version and phone module. I see plenty are curious to know this...

Bring it to a dealer or get coding software and a cable to check yourself.

M Dynamic Mode. If you have the car it's in the owners manual.

Here's a way, but not bullet proof, save your profile on a USB stick, and look in the .mpd file. There's a I-step entry at the beginning of the file. The best is to connect with Esys but maybe that's good enough for you. (BTW that's not my username/VIN...)

I see the "F020-15-03-503" but where is the "58.X ISTA"? Does that need to be visible or is that the same thing?

It worked. Thanks.
Mine showed F020-14-07-502. I guess there's plenty to upgrade in my case.

thats the latest 58.3. To figure out the mapping between i-step and psdZ version, you need a document that comes with ISTA/P.

How to decode the I-step entry? My car is produced at 7th of April 2016. My Profile is as follows:

Thank you I'll check when i go home tonight. I would guess mine is 58.1 F020-16-03-502 (08/15 Build Date)

It would be nice to know high level what the changes were between these updates. So the people raving about the new update, were they going from 53 to 58.3?
