This is promising. How did the SA orange look in person? Close to Sakhir?

Thanks ferrarifast. I'm starting to like (the rendering) - only thing that irks me are those mirrors, but it is what it is!

Nope not close to Sakhir at all.
This was a proper orange. Sakhir looks closer to red compared to SA orange.

This is a closer shade to what SA orange looks like in person

Looked nothing like that at all. That grey car was hideous and was the reason why I actually sold my 2018 M3 and got a 2020 M4---cause I had wanted an m4 and the leak made me decide not to wait for the G82....

The thing is I saw the M3, not the M4. So technically I can't say that the M4 doesn't look like the car in the photo. What's absolutely certain is that the M3's front end does not look anything like that.
It's possible BMW could've made the bumper a lot more aggressive to compliment the grill as a last minute change. It's also possible the car I saw was equipped with some kind of aerodynamics kit option. Who knows.

Perhaps someone who saw the M4 at MTD Monticello can chime in whether or not the grey M4 from the leak looks like the real deal.

Historically the sedans + coupes + convertibles have had the same front end, so it would be shocking if the M4 has a different front end than the M3.

i saw the M4 and from what i remember it looked more like the gray leaked photo. maybe the m3 has a different bumper? or maybe our memory just isn't that good. but then again the recent photo of the M4 with the GT3 looks very similar to leaked gray model.

On a second look, the hood in that gray photo is 100% accurate.
I wonder if that's the new Brooklyn Grey paint job (not exactly sure why BMW would want a color named after Brooklyn)

The front bumper was much more like the rendering I posted above than the one on the gray M4.

Maybe our memory isn't that good haha

Its odd that you saying its pronounced on the sides whereas the other reviews I have read said its not nearly as pronounced as it is in the F80.

Time will tell I guess.

I personally would not be surprised if the base is closer to $79-80k like you said.
That seems like a pretty big jump...add in Comp and Exec packs and you're looking at 90k??

That’s pretty close to where we’re at right now with 2020s though right? At least before you start haggling on price etc.

Easily 90k fully loaded.

Here's another way to look to come up with the base price...
A fully loaded F32 440Xi Cpe is for $65,140 [ https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...upq24v/summary ]
A base F82 M4 is for $69,150

69,150 - 65,140 = 4,010

A G20 M340Xi fully loaded is for $69,175 [ https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...u21ynr/summary ]
69,175 + 4,010 = 73, 185
It could be reasonable to assume the G80 M3 has a base price of $73,185

At launch, the 2015 M3 had a base MSRP of $62,925
At launch, 2015 M4 had a base MSRP of $65,125

65,125 - 62,925 = 2200
The difference between the coupe and the sedan was $2,200

Take the predicted base price for the G80 M3 $73,185
73,185 + 2200 = $75,385

Predicted price for the base G82 M4 = $75,385

So both methods that I have used to come up with a base price for the G82 M4 have a 75 next to them. One analyzed the price differences YoY from the E36 2dr Coupe and onwards. The other just analyzed the differences between the loaded 440/340s and the respective M3/M4s

Add in comp pack, exec pack, full merino leather, and my guess is it should be around 90k-ish.

Yeah. $86k for mine. Add in MPE and you'll cross the 90k mark in no time.

Are they showing different cars or what some of the impressions have been widely different so. Some say the fender flares aren’t as pronounced on the g80 as the f80 but op says they are. Reveal it already. I think most people are going to cave for a few reasons

Brand loyalty and wanting the newest hottest thing from a performance stand point.

Since the g series came out I’ve rarely ran into any here in Denver, at least not the m340i - yesterday I ran into the first seemingly tricked out m340i in my m3 comp- this guy was itching for a run but I’m at a stage in my life where reckless or street racing ticket isn’t my bag right now so I passed. Even being in the m3 there was a slight hint of oh you’re in the newer car- if that was a g80 m3 I think I’d go buy it the next day lol.

People are going to get wrapped up in the whole thing by following the forums as people who do want to get it start posting their orders and builds and then photos, yet here we are hanging on for dear life to the f80, I don’t know- still undecided but we’ll buy it because it’s new and has a power plant that is safer (no crank hub issues) and will produce more power

And that’s why most people will just get the g80- because the f80 will continue to depreciate, not change and we are going to be running into a monster with more tech and power while being able to afford it we’re all going to have demonstrate a tremendous amount of resolve to not cave in because of the grill.

the other thing is a high % of us are leasers. So we have an option when the lease is up - pay the same for a newer and better car? many will.

Just that it seems substantially more aggressive in person.

Also in the renderings it seems that the grill is just one big piece. In reality the grill looks split as there is a very visible bar in the center separating the top & the bottom of the grill.

I chose this rendering because it got the aero on the front bumper right.
However none of the renderings seems to have the correct hood. The hood has dual vents which are quite aggressive in person. Probably inverse of how its shown here.
Also none of the renderings have the side profile correctly. This seems to be a mashup of the F80 + M340. In reality the stance is quite wide and the side profile is quite drastic IRL. It has never been this pronounced in the past.

This rendering did get the mirrors right.

This is what I meant when I said the grill looks like four different quadrants.
I took the following screenshots from a video posted by BMW M
If you look closely you can see there is a horizontal bar dividing which is quite visible IRL.

seems like they are re-using a lot of colors across the product lines now.

Used to be only M exclusive colors. oh well.

Well a substantial number of the sales are going to be a shade of black, white, or grey anyways.

Also I think there are a few exclusives: Isle of Man Green, Sao Paulo Yellow, Brooklyn Grey.... and I think Toronto Red is exclusive to M series vehicles as well. Not 100% sure on that.

Just imagine what its going to look like with a US front plate attached to it. I don't know run one so not an issue for me but christ almighty what were they thinking? Although I am glad they are differentiating the M3/M4 from the rest of the lineup with that grille I just wish it wasn't so pronounced.

Guess it makes it that much harder for the non-m cars to mimic them now when the front end is so different.

I think it'll work in our favor. Considering that the driver's side lower grille is blocked by a giant zit of a sensor, just don't get that option and put the front plate over the bottom 2 grilles, since obviously airflow doesn't matter if that sensor can block it just fine. This car might actually look better with our plates covering the bottom half of the grilles than without it.

It's not just the front grills this time around. I think every panel on the car is different that a standard M340/330.
It will probably cost more to convert an M340 to an M3 than its going to be to buy the real thing.

Pictures of the gray car look 100% legit. The reason it looks odd is the wide angle lens used that accentuates the bulbousness of the front end. It’s a bit of a fisheye lens. But if you compare the details of the gray car to the M4 with the funky wrap, the details are pretty much identical. The car with the wrap doesn’t look clownish because it’s shot with a regular lens vs a wide angle cell phone camera lens.
