Right at the start of the video, see how the car pauses acceleration with each upshift? You can see the nose dive down with each upshift. That's what I don't like about the 8AT. It is decent enough for track driving, but it feels heavy and sluggish compared to a DCT.

It might have something to do with the cost to bring 6MT into a RHD car. The price you pay for driving on the wrong side of the road!

That’s what I originally thought also, but the RHD 6MT is offered in Australia...

BTW, the 6MT is also not offered in France, so I think it is really local market specific.

BMW not offering the DCT on the M cars must be about cost cutting. One less variant on production must be saving them $0.05 somewhere. Then going back to single piston sliders on the rear brakes saves another $0.10. After the first new nickels and dimes they said, hey, let's just borrow all the design elements from Lexus/Toyota since they were partnering with them on the Z4/Supra, it'll save us $0.25 more by not having to hire a real design team! And here we have it, the G8X Toyota inspired design pig of a sedan.

I forgot who mentioned this to me on the forums tbh about the ZF cutting power at certain times when it shifts.

It seems far more obvious on the track.

Might be weird but I actually like the new Supra. Tranny wise, yeah not overly exciting of course but everything else is a plus for me. I was never a huge JDM fan back in the days so the older cars don't catch my eye. I know about them of course but just not "OMG" enough for me. What makes the newer Supra interesting to me is more on the fact that I know BMW so well that, getting the new Supra is basically like getting a BMW lol. Which is pretty much a plus.

I agree, I do like the new Supra's looks a bit more than the Z4 (mainly b/c its a coupe) even tho I'm no fan of JDM design. Too bad BMW won't make a coupe, it would make one hell of an M Coupe. I bet that the new Z4 will be the most reliable BMW ever made tho hahah. Rumor is BMW did learn from Toyota how to make their cars more reliable.

Of course you can still disagree.

"I like the G8x"

"I like the G8x, probably more than you"

"No, I like it more"

Rinse and repeat. Replace G8x with whatever is being pushed at the moment.

Voila! Disagreements still allowed.

No, mods are just tired of the incessant complaints ruining literally every conversation about the car(s). The mods are doing exactly what forum moderators are supposed to do.

No. The thread I’m referencing turned into a pissing match between a couple members.

Grandstand elsewhere when you want to cup the balls of mods.

I agree with banning people for just cause. With the release of the G8x mods have been more than a little loose with what constitutes an infraction worth banning or deleting posts.

Healthy disagreement is healthy. That's where conversations should be steered, if need be. Instead of curating threads into a skewed representation of what forum members feel about a product.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

To me it doesn't matter if 98% of people think the car is ugly and say it. Why should opinions be deleted and/or censored?

If someone actually gets offended about what someone else thinks about a car then frankly they have issues. Someone should get banned if they directly insult a person, but not an inanimate object.

It's good for the opinions to make it back to BMW. They should want the feedback.

Honestly the more pictures I see the more I really find that care maybe one of the ugliest cars BMW has ever made.

Bravo. Well Said and I think that's what most members that hate this mess of a car are thinking.

Let's voice our opinion so BMW doesn't continue to ruin things. Deleting posts and banning long time members isn't going to help anyone.

The sales figures will speak for themselves and it won't be good for BMW. The covid or SUV excuse won't fly.

The sad thing is BMW M3 is now a joke in the automotive community. Go on any car forum and majority of ppl hate the grill.

The 4series is even a bigger disaster.

Dude. You know I disagree with you 98% of the time, but this time I DEFINITELY disagree with you

I completely get the higher level of effort in moding outrage discussion for a fart-in-a-spacesuit design, so create a thread just for design discussion, move all the controversy there, and request for new volunteer moderators to help with the work. mkoesel I'll offer to volunteer 4 hours/day 7 days/week for the next year ... But then the mods don't actually care about the labor which is why they're not asking ... If the mods wanted a forum for legit discussion of the design they could have one and plenty of us would help with the workload.

The written reason is for a ban is "repeating negative opinions" vs repeating positive opinions? Come on man, you know that's bullshit, don't defend it, this is cancel-culture bullshit.

The mods are making the wrong call.
