Opinion Request - M-Performance Parts
My MW F80 is almost completed with production. This will be my first M3, and I want to spend a little on OEM (M-Performance) parts when it arrives to port.
I've created two packages, and I'm going back and forth between them. In the long term (1-2 years) I would go aftermarket with the package I didn't select. But for now, here is what I have. Also, my plan is to finance the car, unless residuals are great when I take delivery in April. Can you guys help me out with this decision by a simply vote ? Thanks M Package 1 Z16 - CF Frnt Attachment w/Aero Kit Z21 - Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps Z06 - Black Kidney Grilles Z?? - Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler (Installed at Dealer) Z?? - Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser (Installed at Dealer) M Package 2 Z6M - Carbon Fiber Exhaust Tips ZA4 - M Performance Exhaust Z24 - Stainless Steel Pedals

The rear spoiler and rear diffuser are available as port installed options FYI. Honestly, I would recommend adding everything you want and leasing the car. Then you get to pay for only a fraction of the actual cost.
Also, the MPE is great. |

MPE is pretty much essential in my book.

Option 2 installed plus black kidney grills at port and would recommend leasing if you are up for it. You will pay a fraction of the cost. Also get your dealer to sell you those at invoice. The difference between MSRP and invoice in MP parts is significant. Varies between 15-25% at time.
Also if you do decide to go with option 1, I want to make you aware that you can get the front lip matched to your car's color at the port. The price is minimal ($100-200). Compare that to doing it after and you will pay a lot more. Also some of the items can not be added by the dealer. CA will have to request that from his/her contact at the port. That goes for the color match. There are other benefits of PIA (labor and warranty, insurance coverage of parts as included in MSRP) that just can't be beat and if you are leasing it makes the deal a whole lot sweeter. Good luck Last edited by KZEVO; 02-24-2016 at 05:16 AM.. |

Voted option 1 only because you said you plan to finance. As others have said, MPE is a must, but not sure I would have done it on mine if I had financed given how expensive it is. Adding at port is a no brainer when leasing since it is 100% residualized. You may want to shop around and price out these parts with labor installed after your car arrives to see if you can save some $$. Or go after-market if you are open to it. When financing, the only real benefit you would see by having them port installed is having the parts on the Monroney Sticker for insurance purposes.

Great feedback guys, appreciate it! Looks like MPE is a winner. I'm also hoping lease residuals are nice in April.
