This is real shady and a lesson to be learned. OP, thanks for sharing your ECU pics and for warning others about this abuse of private property. I would NEVER let any of these "companies" touch anything in my car. Used a vendor here once on my e92 M3 and would never do that again.

Looks like a little extreme measurement to protect a tune, I understand the idea behind it, you want to make sure all your time and effort don't get stolen, but even then, day by day, as a tuner you improve what you do, the more you do it the better you get at it... I wouldn't mind anyone taking a peak at the tunes I develop, do I mind people copying what I do? Not really... If you are a person that actually is familiar with this platform or tuning in general, you know that no all cars are the same, all react different to Ecu mapping, if you decide is a good idea to copy some map that you consider "a good start" for your own tunes, maybe you should look into a different profession. There is no pride in copying someone's else hard work, and I'm sure most of the tuners out there that actually take pride at what they do, share the same feeling about using someone else's map! It's just not an option!

On the flip side, you didn't tell him you guys were gonna glue (whatever) on his ECU. Turn around is fair play. |

sorry for the OP's trouble. If this is hot glue, it is known in the electronics hobbyists circles that the chemical in the attached pic can safely and easily remove it. However, this chemical is almost impossible to find for the average user, sorry can't disclose the secret ingredient
FYI1: using hot glue on active/power components isn't recommended (but to give them credit they only glued a small part of the chip and pins) FYI2 ECU: Electronics Control Unit is a generic term used for different control units. From the title, at first i thought they glued the ECU DME (the metal casing) so no one can really crack open that ECU, now that's a serious problem ! Give Gintani a break. I think They should have told the customer the Chip would be sealed and only they should remove it. Had they disclosed that, I think they would not be taking so much heat right now. But, They didn't cause irreversible damage.
They have worked on my car and when I had a sensor go bad, all It took was a quick conversation with Alex. He fixed it at no charge even though it was questionable if the problem was caused by them. |

Gintani Is very weird they just stated it takes less then a minute to remove the glue so whats the sense of putting it in the first place if its so easy to remove?? That is a horrible practice PERIOD... SHAME OF YOU for doing that to customer's car and NOT informing that as well

I know right? If the car runs fine who the fuck cares. Don't flash your computer if you want it to look stock. God the world is full of whiney little bitches. You all should go out and buy Maseratis fit your douchebag persona's.

Give them a break man this is why I hate forums now people just talk non sense I have there tune and dp and I've been completely happy with it since day one and they take care of you in any questions and problems you might have.they had the burble before anyone I know had over a year before so I get them trying to protect there work. I understand they didn't tell me but idc hasn't harmed my car and they use it maybe to deter other tuners thinking it's harder to remove and they won't mess with it until it's taken off. My 2 cents as a customers can't wait to see what new things gintani has in store to make my car even better I trust them no matter what the forums say.
