Short Shift Kits
I have done some searching on the forum on F8x short shift kits. It looks like the two choices are Rogue Engineering and UUC. Most of the posts are a bit dated so I was wondering if anyone as some current information they can share. Which system do you like? Are there any quality issues with either one? I noticed there are a lot of posts of them being crooked, and off center etc. thus raising concerns as I rather not have a crooked shifter. I'm just looking for a little more of a precise feel over the stock shifter.
Thank you in advance! |

Autosolutions SSK is who I'll be going when the time comes to pull the trigger on one. They are not as discussed on this forum but are the bees knees in the E46 and E39 world.

I have the CAE shifter and it makes the driving experience so much better. Feels like a race car but still easy enough where my wife can drive it without complaining. She even says it's easier to shift than stock. Also that mechanical shifting clunk sound is addicting!

There's one SSK that has been the best for M3s since the E46: Auto Solutions. |

I get that it's easy money, but after you've been burned a few times, no amount of money is worth the headache.

Thanks for the insight, I checked out Auto Solutions and sent them an email. Definitely impressed with the quality and overall reputation. The website is dated but provided some good information. The guy knows BMW shifters

That is exactly what I'm looking for thank you for sharing!
Hope to hear back from him soon so I can get it ordered and schedule an install. Did you run into any issues with the install? |

I had his E46 kit and put 100k miles on it, flawless. I have it on my E92 6MT and have also sampled it in the M2c. Fantastic in all of them. If I get a G80 6MT I'm sure I'll get his kit as well |

What has your typical wait times been like for the Autosolutions kit?
I've been emailing Ron since August and still haven't received my kit. 2020 is crazy so not trying to rush anyone |

Can anyone with a Auto Solutions shifter tell me what they think about the various specs?
What bushing hardness did you get and did you experience any additional NVH? I'm looking at the 80a but am trying to balance shifter feel with NVH. What ratio did you get? I'm looking at 25% reduction but would like some feedback. I appreciate all the feedback and am really looking forward to getting this shifter installed. |

I didn't change any bushings. It feels fantastic anyway.
For ratio, if you're going to use the stock knob or a shorter one I suggest you get the lowest possible ratio. I get that, around 10-12% and am never disappointed. The point of the AS SSK is not so much the shorter shift but the increased feel and precision of the movement |

So I finally received it yesterday had the Auto Solutions shifter installed today. Wow what a difference! The shifts are tight and quick which is exactly what I was looking for. I did get the 25% reduction and upgraded to the 80a bushings, which I thought may be to much, but It came out exactly as I was expected.
I could not be happier with that overall result and it really changes the driving experience for the better. |

If you haven't already, get rid of the Clutch delay valve/orifice in the slave cylinder. With those two mods, the shifting experience simply amazing.
