Opinions on this CPO 2017 M3?

I am thinking of a pre-owned CPO 2017 BMW M3. It's decked out with all the options, including competition package, executive, lighting, carbon ceramic brakes, and even the M performance steering wheel and rear automatic shades. This is also a CPO with the CPO warranty lasting another 10 months. It has a clean car fax and I think a pretty good price. Any red flags you guys see here?

I also noticed on the Carfax that it was originally registered in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, which I understand where certain M school cars were registered, but I also understand that BMW does not CPO M performance school cars. Could this be a M performance school or demo car? Anything I should be aware or concerned about?

They also do not use 20" wheels or stick at the performance center. I suspect BMW exec driven and fine to purchase!

Car looks nice. I do have to say though it is no executive driven from wood cliff lakes. This car was most likely a car set up and given to a BMW trainer who goes dealer to dealer training sales people and geniuses on the cars. May not be too big of a problem but typically these are younger guys, 23-30 year olds. It may or may not have been beat on. Did it have the 1200 mile service done? The problem with cars like this given to people who don't own them is that they don't care to let it warm up, don't care where the oil temp is at, don't care about anything really and I think the condition of that drivers seat is an indication of that.

I would choose a different car that is clean and owned personally from someone that had the 1200 miles service done on time.

It didn't have 1st service until 5400 miles. Not a good car.

Dealer confirmed this car had 1,200 mile service done (exactly at 1,200 miles, in fact). Bmw service record also confirms it, even though it doesn't show up on Carfax. Also why this car is CPO'ed, which I understand BMW doesn't do unless it had the 1,200 mile check done.

I have not because it's in a different state, but I did get high res pictures and video chat. Everyrhing looked to be good. Would be ideal to see in person, but not possible under the circumstances. And there aren't any CPO M3s with the specs I want near me unfortunately.

I would want to know condition of the ceramic rotors as those can be a liability if they need to be replaced soon due to abuse. Price seems fair overall, but it probably was used as some sort of demo vehicle. I personally would wait for another option. Don't let the condition of the front seats deter you though - the bolsters wear a lot depending on how you get in and out of the car. My car looked worst than that and I am the second owner. But it was easy to fix using colourlock dye.

the steering wheel looks kinda gross like its never been cleaned ..the Alcantara is a bit matted n nasty looking. I'm OCD so don't mind me. But.............
I do think its a cool car though and prolly a fair price in this market all thing considered.

You need to see the car before you pull the trigger. You need to see those carbon ceramics, put a paint gauge to the car, hear the engine, drive the car. Too many variables with these F8X cars. The way they are handled and driven plays a big role in the longevity of the car.

Was yours CPO? CPO will add a min $3k to price, often more.

Agreen on the CPO point. Also, even a $7k is a pretty big difference in my book! YMMV

I would also add that this car has carbon fiber front splitters, carbon fiber mirrors caps, and the M performance Exhaust, all of which are highly desirable IMO.

Any thoughts on whether the fact this may have been a demo car should be a concern?

Oh i didnt see that this was CPO. Either way I feel like CPO makes that big of a difference especially if the car this has original warranty. What doe CPO get you really?

As someone else suggested, be aware of what you are getting into with the CCBs and get them inspected by someone who knows how to inspect them. (It is not merely visual / should be weighed.). The replacement cost is very high and unless you understand and really want CCBs I’d hesitate to buy a 2-previous owner used car with them in the absence of an independent inspection. There are plenty of threads here discussing pros and cons of CCBs. Do not rely on CPO inspection. Other than that, it looks like a nice car.

Too me it looks like a pretty sweet car. I searched for a few months and I would have pulled the trigger in a second on this car if it would have been a 6 speed. Do your due diligence as others have suggested, paint meter, PPI etc. CPO, loaded with all the carbon and MSE I think it's a good deal.

For me, I never keep cars long so I would enjoy it for a few years and sell on to another person to enjoy.

In the past, BMW execs could spec the car any way they wanted - I looked at an X6 that had just about every damn option on it (2011).

When the exec was done, the car was sold to a dealer - normally at a screaming deal price. You could even lease some of these and the lease payment was mind blowing.

I suspect, with the stuff this car has on it, this was one of those cars.

Fast forward today, and I don't think the execs can do that any more (order anything they want) - worse, when done with the car, the cars go to a BMW only auction where dealers now pay too much for them. And you can't lease them any more. At least this is what I've been told.

And the CCB are awesome if in good shape - you probably will never need a brake job (in return for some noise of course).

Any way to determine whether this was either a M driving school car, exec car, or demo car? Would it be labeled as such in BMW's system?
