Looking for Mickey Tompson ET Street SS drag radial review

Im considering trying a set of 305/35-19 MT Street SS drag radial rear tires on my Manual transmission 2016 M3. Pushing 500+ HP, I tired of 1st and second gear being useless, like on a wet road. I also get lots of wheel hop with my conti 305/30-19 on stock rims. I know the tires won't last long and are not great in the rain. I'm hoping to hook up on the street and would like hit the 1/4 mile just once to see what she can do. Do I need to be fearful of breaking driveshaft and half shafts? Damaging the clutch or transmission? The engine pulley problem? Are they stable at high speed? are they better than Nitto NT05R? Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, I have 305/30-19 conti's on the stock rims now. They fit perfectly, just terrible traction.

If you haven't already, read my post "various meat": http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1315232

I've been daily driving my Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S 305/35/19s for the last 2 weeks. Just took them off and put on my 18" wheels with my MT ET Street S/S 305/30 18s.

Let me say this, you will NOT have traction problems with the Mickeys. They stick. Like crazy stick. I run 640 whp and can still floor it in 1st and 2nd and hook.

What I didn't like was they look smushed on the 10" wide wheels. The tire is noticeably wider than the rim and the tire sidewall angles back towards the wheel. Not horrific, but not optimal. An 11" wheel would be much better. They also felt a bit squirrely. Did not feel planted like the 18s on wider 11" wheels. Now I know the TPG guys ran them on stock wheels and drag raced with them, and there is another guy on this forum who daily drives them and loves them, but I'm still a bit torn given how great the 305 18s feel. I'll still likely daily drive the 19s because I prefer the 19" wheels, but it seems a compromise. Unless I got bad tires. heh.

You might want to take a look at the Bridgestone RE71Rs for the rear. they have 285/35/19s or 305/30/19s. Both are good and definitely offer substantially more traction than Contis or MPSS's while still being very good daily drivers and solid at high speeds. They are not good drag racing tires, however. Nothing beats Mickeys for that IMO. So you might want to get a set of 18" wheels with 18" Mickeys for that.

I have the MT mounted on my M3 with the stock 19" wheels, it's only 1 day so far. It looks like you are right. It cured my traction problem, hooks like crazy in 1st gear, never felt acceleration like that before. The problem is, as you said, the tires are a little too wide for the stock rims. Looks a little funny on the car, just clears the fenders, about 1/8". I'm glad they won't last long, I guess the RE71R are in my future.

Can you post pics of the 305/35/19s? What was your overall opinion of them? Thanks.

I got re71R now. hooks OK but only when warmed up above 90F

looking into DR tires

anything nitto DR fit oem 19s?

a decade ago I drove my 650hp mustang with them. anything less would just go up in smoke instantly.

I just put 305/35/18's on the 513M's and used them for a few days on the street. They dead hook in 1st gear but I also have DSS axles so not sure if you'd be taking a risk with the OEM axles.

Did you add any spacers to fit the 305 on the 513s? I also have those rims
