How do you guys like the MAX 360 other than the laser issues you have been experiencing, been thinking of getting one for my 2015 F80.
You guys using the blendmount setup, if so is it the 006 or 007? |

I am pleased with the Max 360. This is my second one as I've been running one in my wife's M235i for a year and a half. I upgraded from a 4 year old detector. I really like the directional arrows to give me an idea where the signal is coming from. I use Waze instead of Escort Live because there are a lot more Wazers out reporting.
I run a Blendmount with a Mirror Tap on both cars. For my 2018 M3 I use the BMX-2130 -007 as that corresponds to the mirror I have in the car. The Blendmount is more obvious but with tinted windows it is less so. I sacrifice the obviousness of it for the performance increase that the Blendmount provides. How much of an increase? I dont know. Now if I can just get the false laser alerts to decrease... Although I drove a lot yesterday and had no laser alerts.

I have found that my iPhone X trips the laser detection in my Max360.
Uncertain if this may be the case for these specific reports, but thought it worth sharing just in case. |

Checked this out today in my car with a V1 and extension cord inside and out of the vehicle. Appears there is a laser diode in the front windshield under the "connected drive logo", about 4-5 inches below where the camera is located. iDrive display is not doing this. When V1 is mounted anywhere near the mirror it gets the false alarms presumably from reflected laser within the glass. When mount it near the A-pillars there is no false alarm (or about 1 foot away from the mirror to the left or right), just not an ideal mounting location. Maybe this helps?

For folks dealing with laser false go into the detector and turn laser off. A radar detector is no good with dealing with laser. If you want laser protection then invest in an ALP system. ALP is currently the best on the market right now. If your radar detector goes off to an actual leo encounter and your above the PSL (say +15mph) you've already been tagged and will more than likely get pulled over. If not, then it's simply your lucky day. Do not rely on a radar detector for laser.

Add me to the list guys...
I bought my Escort Passport Max back in the summer of 2014. I used it on my E93 M3, my 2015 M3, my wife's car and my kids' car on a daily basis for the past 3.5 years - absolutely no false laser alarms. Then - about a week ago, I upgraded to a 2018 M3. The very next day, the laser detector was going off constantly. These false alarms are bad when driving either directly toward the sun or at roughly a 45 degree angle to the sun or less. If more than 45 degree angle, cloudy or at night - no laser false alarms at all. There is definitely a correlation not only to the 2018 M3 (versus a 2015), but also to sunlight.... The posts above are helpful - but at least at night, when cloudy or when driving in a direction that is greater than a roughly 45 degree angle to the sun - no false laser alarms... |

I am having the same problem with my 2018 M3. My car doesn't have the assistance package so there are no nanny functions. I have side assist but even if I turn it off my MAX2 still occasionally yell "laser" while stationary in my garage.
I have iPhone X but even if it's not in the car I still get laser alerts. Therefore I guess it's due to the touchscreen laser thing. Let's look at this way: most people who have this problem have 2018 M3s. The main change in MY2018 is the touchscreen. |

I changed some of the display settings on my ALP. Nothing that should have impacted the alerts but voila!, the laser alert at start-up stopped sounding. I don't know what it would be, but I suppose there was possible user error involved before. No such luck with the Max 360. I liked having the dual Escort/ALP laser protection systems, but I ended up just turning off the laser mode on the Escort. So all my annoying start-up alerts are now gone.

this is obviously the answer. i have a 360 with absolutely no issues whatsoever (MY2016), yet everyone who is complaining has the 2018 with the touchscreen iDrive.

Get the ALP installed - that seems like the only thing that can filter it. otherwise turn off laser band or mount the detector closer to one of the A-pillars as far away from the mirror as possible.

I also just picked up a 2018 M3 and have a Escort Passport MAX and having the same issue with false laser alerts constantly, it is so annoying that I have took it out of the car. Fortunately, my buddy is President of Radenso so I am going to try out both their Pro-M and XP radar detectors and see if the issue occurs with them also, if not i'll get one from him and sell the Escort...technology is a bit outdated in my model anyways.

I had a 2015 m4 vert and had no issues with my max 360 picking up false laser alerts. Got a 2018 m3 and now I see them. Not too often, but whenever I angle it up towards the sun, it goes off with the laser alert.

This is the answer I just unboxed and mounted my brand new redline ex ( replacing the original redline) and it falses laser constantly and never stops in my '18 m3. Found the sensors in the screen after blacking out my garage and at the right angle you can see faint red lights on both sides of the screen. Cover these up and no more false alert. The camera on my phone actually captures them nicely whereas the naked eye doesn't. Made an account just to post this to help out because I know it drove me crazy thinking I had a bad unit out of the box. Last edited by F80Doug; 02-12-2018 at 09:49 PM.. Reason: misspelling |
