Help/Advice needed for a TPM sensor malfunction on a 2018 M4
Hello Everybody!
I am very new to the world of BMW's. I recently acquired a 2018 M4, and I'm still having a blast in the comfort mode settings! okay but seriously, I have the yellow TPM light on my dash and i drive screen. It says i have a tpm malfunction, and i have tried to reset it by driving for a while, but the sensor stops functioning at 49%. i checked the tire pressure and they are all 1 or 2 bars above the recommended PSI. do i need to take the car back into the dealership and have the code removed/ looked at or is that just a waste of time and money? thank you in advance for taking some time out to help! |

How long did you drive? I had to drive roughly 9ish miles for it to fully reset.

Not totally related but my X7 recently had this issue. Would not let me reset and hung at xx%.
At dealer now. Had battery and telematics issue right as the TPMS issue popped up. Not saying it’s the same issue but if you can’t seem to get it resolved with a drive, you may need to go get the system scanned. If you got it from the dealer recently, take it back. Alternatively you can go to a reputable tire shop and they can scan your wheels (sensors) or main module. |

I got new rims/tires/TPMS sensors and had to reset 3x before car finally got to 100% and is now consistently reporting tire pressures accurately. First 2 times I did it on the fwy and they both failed - once at 90% and once at 49%. 3rd time I drove surface streets and it reached 100% and reset without any issues. It took maybe only 5 mile of surface street driving to get the reset done.
