Why was I under the impression that the current 4 series was done?
Now I look like an idiot to a few clients who I told this Gen was done.

I don't get why the 4-series staggers behind the 3-series by two years. The new body style will be out for two years (19 and 20) before the car finishes production...

So the 4 series is going to have a 1.5 year run as a 2020 model?
This makes no sense. This car is now a dated model. The 3 series ended as a 2018 model. The 4, being a model year long, should end as a 2019 model. But to stretch it out like this, I think it's a bad idea.

You must be new to BMW I guess? BMW never lunched all variants at the same time.

https://bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901686 Regarding the 4 Series and M4 continuing on into 2020, BMW products (with rare exceptions) have a seven year cycle. And since the launch of the 3 Series (now 4 Series) coupe has always trailed the launch of the sedan by about a year and a half, so too does its end of production. |

I've never looked at my LCI M4 and thought "damn I wish those tails were darker." I guess I'll have to see the LCII's tails in the flesh. I do love that black/SO interior combo. I would have been all over that had it been available in 2019.

There isn't a huge difference by any means. Below, screenshots from the 2017 LCI reveal vs 2020 cosmetic enhancements. You can see the taillights being slightly darker. These are BMW renders, it might be more obvious in real life.
