Thanks! I'm guessing that the extra bracket was added to address the issue with early MPEs cracking at some of the welds. Apparently I have V1 because I bought mine in mid 2016 and I don't remember seeing that extra bracket when I installed it.

So my next question is, why did you got go to the expense and trouble of installing the MPE when your lease was nearing the end? You've only had it for months. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Due to crack on my V1 dealer replaced the MPE on my last visit.
