First Set of Mods - Just sort of did it
F80ers!
Just dove head first into my first round of modding the F80. I absolutely love my car, and they just aren't going to make them like this anymore. That said, I wanted to start the mod process with items that don't void what is still a good factory warranty (at the right dealer), but have tangible gains and are bolt-on level at most. Thanks for all the documented research and exchanges. It was very helpful. This is my daily grocery commuter, and my weekend track warrior, so reliability is a critical concern as well. For background the car is a "stripped" 6MT with cloth, 18s. I ordered it from the factory with the intent of keeping it as bare bones as possible (Porsche could take a hint) and I have and will not turn back. She has 35K on her and felt I could make the move. 1. Changed out the front stock 255s for 265/40/18 PSS 2. Bootmod3 ECU tuning software and maps for on the fly stage one/two tuning with reflash to OEM for dealership service/maintenance 3. Ordered the Active Autowerke Downpipe w/ CAT Figured this would be a great start, add some power, and give me a little bit of a project to mess around with. Don't plan on getting too crazy, and this car still scares me at times, but with smart mods and more clinics and schools, we should be good.

Enjoy man! The AA catted DPs look awesome, you'll love the quicker spool. Aside from the pipes and your BM3 you really don't need any more mods. Start figuring how you'll fit some 305s out back.

Make sure you at least install a CBC.

Congrats! That's a great start of mods. You can always spice up the interior a little bit too with little to no fear on warranty concerns. Here are some of my favorites!

Thanks all! Really pumped minus the AA DPs being on backorder until AUG2021. Oh well.
Quick question. I have the BMW Performance module which sits in the OBD2 port and can be inserted/removed with little to no problems, but I got the 5FT OHP ENET OBD Interface Cable for BMW (E-SYS ICOM Coding Diagnostics) and this thing just doesn't feel like it wants to go in. To the point where I feel like I might be forcing it and might break/snap/bend something. Am I being crazy...? I have done S1 ECU flashing before so this isn't new, but this feels really off, especially with how easily the Performance reader goes in and out. I just had my car inspected too and there were no issues! Do I just need to apply some elbow grease...?

Bootmod3 by far the best bang for buck. Like ever.
Amazingly smooth delivery, torque/hp gains are absurd no matter what the mod, and the car feels so much more sure of itself. In reading more on the BM3 mapping and tuning, I am now curious as to whether or not I even need a DP set to run the OTS S2 93 map. There are some really great threads about the measured power delivery, of which some mention that it can be run on all stock internals. I definitely do not mind having to get the DPs, but if I can SAFELY run the BM3 OTS S2 93 for both daily and weekend track/AX, I am all for doing that. Any advice or recommendations? If I recall, the primary adjustment for S2 93 with stock internals was dialing down the pops which I am fine with. That said, I still willing to consider DPs if I need them to safely run the S2 BM3 tune. The AA Catted DPs seem to be out of stock for awhile, and in looking around the forum and researching, there seems to be limited consensus on other brands, but I am looking for DPs that meet the following criteria: - OEM fit and bolt right in (no cutting, bending, manipulating, forcing, welding, chewing, biting, punching, slapping into place) - No CEL trigger - Able to work for both DD and track duty since the M car is a multi-role car I am curious about the Agency Power DPs, but can't remember if they are catted. I had an AP exhaust on my 987.1 Cayman S (god I miss you), and loved it, so open to that as well. Any other recommendations are welcome, and if I have to wait, I have to wait.

You can run BM3 Stage2 tunes with stock cats no prob. Catted DPs only get you a few HP and catless maybe 10. The stock cats breathe great, just don't burble too loud or you can cook the cats.

Yeh, I was messaging bootmod3 and they said I could run S2 93 on stock internals, but that is a good point about the DPs. I guess I just need to go in and adjust the burbling and reverb right?

Quick question and posted to the bootmod3 dedicated thread, but if I run the OTS S2 93 with the new AA DPs (which is the plan), will I have to perform similar tweaks for the burbling? I only ask because I would like to mess with this as little as possible as reliability is critical since it is my daily and my weekend AX/track hound.
Thanks and super excited. Much thanks to Mike for all his assistance!

You should be able to run the default burble setting on the catted downpipes without any issues. We ran max burble on the shop's M4 with ER catted DP for over a year
