F8X Values from the new M3/M4 release?

Does anyone realistically think the F8x platform will go up in value or remain the same with the new release imminent on the M3/M4? I certainly hope not lol. With the way those look, I really want to get back into an F8x in the foreseeable future. Hoping the prices go down a bit throughout the next couple years!

Well said. Any idea why M3's hold their values more than the M4?

every single car is a depreciating asset. one in a billion that might increase in value. but cost of ownership might offset any gains. so

My car only depreciated 13% before tax after driving it for 25k miles and 3 years. I should sell it before the G80 release. I think prices will plummet.

i think the f8x will still depreciate. but not as bad, the curve will slow thanks to how terrible the g8x is. The F80 6 speed cars and CS models will hold value best i think.

-m3 looks better
-lower production numbers.
-there aren't many other 4 door, manual,6 speed cars in the segment. definitely not any with a CF roof.

2016 f80 m3  [0.00]
I am pretty sure f80 will not increase in value but retain good value as compare to most m3s in the past.

The reason is very simple:
It's one of the best looking m3s out there
With huge potentials for tuning. Very reliable too.
Im also talking about m4s and m2 competition. Same engine, different body.

It will however not appreciate in value because.
They are mess production cars, and they are not Porsches ( more refined, bigger market collectors and investment)

M3 values will probably stay higher than M4 just based on production numbers. Manuals, probably higher.

Overall, F8x values go down. Soccer moms and the like drive M cars here. They have zero clue about M car heritage. Forums represent the minority of M car owners/enthusiasts.

This thread is much like the previous generations.. and all will have their values obliterated. E36 to E46 to E92, E92 to F80. They all will depreciate especially since more and more M cars are being made with each new generation.

When E46 came out, the design was so much different than the lines of the E30 / E36 and people said it got too soft, heavy, and rounded, and BMW was losing its way.

When the E9x came out, everyone was saying E46 would retain value because they were the last of the timeless classic look pre bangle influenced look, had better interior, and were smaller / lighter.

When F8X came out, it was the criticism of the turbo 6, and how the marvelous 8 cylinder s65 would make the values hold since BMW lost its way with the EPS and going to some weedwacker turbo. etc

we are here_____ now

In the mean time I've already seen my F8X value get decimated so I guess from here on out it won't be as bad of a loss (5 years into ownership).

My 2 cents, drive your F8X. Enjoy it. Understand it is a horrible investment and be at peace with it. In 5-6 years we will be talking about how the G8X will hold their value because the H8X will be hybrid / EV and the G8X will the last of the pure M cars. If i'm around I will remind you all how our F8X values got crushed still lol

Technically people like M3's is because it's a 4 door family sedan vs 2 door car is the real reason..

Nah I don’t need four doors and I still got the M3. The rear flared fenders makes the car look so much better.

I will say the new M4 looks much better than the outgoing model though.

This. Even Chris Harris noted the fact that these cars are even being made for this last generation of ICE/manual combo is remarkable. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I thought about this and decided to see what the old E46 M3s are going for. Mind you, these are 15-20 year old cars.

Nationwide, any where for 10- 45ish K, with most in the mid to high 20s. Not bad for a car that old which sold at about 60+K new.

Was going to say the exact same thing, on a long enough timeline, all of these "pre EV" M cars will hold their value and eventually start climbing. Just look at the explosion of value in 90s Japanese sports cars, different context but similar price patterns.

I think F8x values will be above G8x values, but not anytime soon. Would expect to see this after about 15-20 years, when F8x cars start popping up on BaT as collector's items.
