Best lowering springs for the F80?
I was wondering what the best springs to lower my F80 and get rid of most of that wheel gap! I’ve heard good things about EMD and Swift, but not sure which is better. The KW HAS kit was my first option but I realize the only advantage to those is adjusting the height which I don’t care to do. Just want something that’s good with the factory shocks and won’t damage them, and provides good lowering. My car does have adaptive suspension as well.
Thanks! |

I went with Eibach Pro on my F82. Been 2 weeks now since fitted and the 20’s fill the gap nicely now, especially with the 12mm spacers all round.

HAS is a waste of time imho. The only actual benefit is you could corner weight, but tbh if you're corner weighting you're not running HAS. For springs you're basically balancing height with possibility of damaging dampers over time.
If I cared about performance I'd get swift spec-r EMD would be my pick for a less aggressive rate. If you really want to get the car low and have a proper shock length you're going to need to go coilovers. However springs are cheap if you can DIY them. HAS is a complete waste of money. Save that towards coilovers. |

I rarely ever hear anyone mention MSS, though Evolve is very adamant about the triple spring rates or whatnot.
Is MSS not a popular option on the F8X platform? Would love to hear more feedback on them.

i had swifts with adaptive (2015). looks great. but ride quality suffers a bit. small imperfections like going over train tracks makes it feel like the suspension is crashing. my current stock m2 comp rides better.
coils are best, but $$, and you will lose adaptive. emd may be a good compromise.

i have Macht Schnell springs, they have amazing ride quality but i wish they went lower. this is my setup, just tossed r888s on the factory 513’s. in person from certain angles it looks pretty low but that gap is still there. i think i might switch to EMD or just full coilovers

the tips are just aftermarket no MPE, picked them up off of someone else on the forums. can find them on sites like mashimarho. i did have to modify them though to make them more flush, they stuck out too much. most tips they make are fully round and don’t have the cutout for the “knob” on the factory exhaust.

i honestly think it’s just the fact that i have 18’s. i think 19’s with the same tire sizes would close the gap beautifully. i wanted 19’s the whole time but couldn’t find any on here. you have the OEM 20’s so definitely fills it out even more

Sorry I’m late to this thread but you can at least compare to my AST springs. No complaints and the height is perfect for me. I already have a tough time not hitting the front lip. Plus the performance and handling increase was noticeable. I get compliments on the stance all the time.

I fly the 320. If you want to pm we can talk shop. Post some pics after you have the springs installed. I’d be curious to see if there’s much of a difference. |

Yes coilovers are great but can be 10-20x the cost of springs so let’s keep that in mind.
I think you’ll easily get 10k mikes of decent wear on stock shocks before you notice degradation, and if you still want to invest in the platform throw down the money for coils. I had Swifts years ago and felt like they were excellent and though I’ve moved to KWs I did’t regret using those springs at all. |
