Instrument Cluster Backlighting Too Dim

Has anyone else experienced excessively dimmed out instrument cluster back lighting? At night, it's fine. But during the day, some of the backlit portions of the instruments such as the current speed, clock, trip mileage, etc are almost so dim that they can't be seen. I have brightness maxed in IDrive as well in addition to the physical dial next to the headlight controls. This can be corrected with coding, correct?

x2 I would like to know too. In the day time, the instrument cluster and all the information does seem too dim.

That is normal. Daytime has the dash lights at maximum brightness. The diming dial only changes nightime brightness.

I have the same issue. BMW said there will be a software update mid to late April to fix this!

This is good news. How do we go about getting the updates?

I guess just contact your dealership and let them know of the issue.

I have another issue with the instrument cluster. It goes off completely while the car is still running as if you turned off the ignition and then it goes back on within a few seconds!

I have a short video showing that but I don't know how to attach a video!

Uploading to youtube and then posting the link is probably the easiest.

Does anyone have an anser for this, I find the dash on the e92 dangerously dim, even when adjusted on the idrive and cluster itself to the highest.

There seems to finally have been a fix found for this issue using Bimmercode.

See post in this thread by imdiekeb.

Here are his instructions which also worked for me:

Using BimmerCode, I made the following code changes with very acceptable results:

Headunit - 3005 APIX_CID_UND_ZIN - DIM_CURVE_X2 – change values to 0x00, 0x00 (from 0x1F, 0xC0)

Instrument cluster - 3000 Anzeige_Konfiguration – DIM_TAG_NACHT_LICHT_EIN_ENABLE – change value to aktiv

Instrument cluster - 3005 FuBi_Parameter – DIM_DTN – change value to 0x7F (from 0x3F)

After programming the codes above, go to Car/Settings/Displays/Control display and change the “Brightness at night” to it’s lowest value. Then use the standard I.P. scroll wheel to set a comfortable light level in darkness.

+1

Windows & windshield are tinted and I can see it adjust in real time when rolling up or down.
