Trunk floor compartment lid catch missing on 2018 M3 - anyone else?

We took delivery of my wife's 2018 M3 ZCP last Wednesday at BMW Welt. When we went to load our luggage in the trunk at our hotel on Thursday morning and stow some stuff in the compartment under the trunk floorboard, I discovered that the latch that holds up the trunk floorboard is missing!

I have this on my 2016 M4 and it's a much better design on my wife's 2011 335is Coupe. But in her 2018 M3 it's missing! The mounting holes are there but there's no latch!

Can someone with a recent build M3 confirm that they either have or don't have the trunk floorboard latch?

Don't know, I won't be able to look at my M4 until we get home on August 4. I've never actually looked at it because of where its mounted. It's just there and I use it every time I go to the grocery store and get the bags out of the storage compartment.

I'll definitely be ordering one though because it's really convenient.

I don't think either of my F80s had that piece.

You are going to need the push in fastener too, It is not a screw that holds it on.

Just FYI, these were defective (which is maybe why BMW discontinued?), or maybe they just missed it on your car.

Mine would constantly let go of the cover and slam down on my hand, especially is car was not on a level surface (hill). I fixed it by taking a hair dryer and softening the center plastic a little and pulling the center springy portion down a little further, then held it there till it cooled.

Now it works perfect and never lets go until I push the release.

Can’t confirm the discontinued part but letting go and the potential of slamming into one’s head seemed plausible to me with my 2015 F80. It barely held the lid up as I recall. Must check my 2018 to see if any improvements have been made or a complete delete?

I noticed my friends 2016 M3 didn't have it so I swiped the catch from my 2016 340i before I got rid of it to add to my incoming 2018 M3. Win!

Good call. Had no idea the F80s don't have it, would have done the same. 14 335 to 15 M3.

Huh...had that on my F30 and had no idea what it was. Thought it was to hang grocery bags so they didn't fall over...

I noticed that the brackets for the warning triangle are not there either. I took the triangle from my M4 before I traded it, but I guess I’ll have to order that bracket as well.

I'm home from our trip and I took a look at the latch on my 2016 M4 and that's definitely the part. Based on the diagram from realoem.com, https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8569, the two parts needed to re-implement this feature on cars that are missing the latch are:
#5: 51477292662 - Detent for Insert Plate
#13: 51718229000 - Expanding Rivet
Together they cost less than $7 and are completely worth getting.

The latch on my M4 has worked flawlessly since day one. It's never let go and dropped the floor lid. If anything, sometimes it takes a good pull to get the latch to release.
